  1. Out of interest, how many season ticket holders do we have? C1,500? Assuming that each st holder will want at least 1 ticket, I'd imagine we should sell a fair few before the general sale. Are we selling them block by block and does anyone know if club will be giving updates on how many have been sold? Just thinking ahead to whether saints will need the extra allocation or not as aberdeen are having a ballot on 13th and I can see somebody their fans looking to try and get some of our tickets.
  2. Possibly, but to have a player to 'sacrifice' like that you'd need to have a more attacking midfielder next to him to drive forward. To me, that driving player used to be Davidson too, but he seems to have lost that bit of his game. I think the team is better without him. Maybe the kind of player to bring on when defending a lead. Although it sounds like I'm a muzz hater, I'm not, I just think he needs to do more and step up his game to be the player we all want him to be and thought he'd be by now.
  3. All about opinions, but for me, Davidson is the modern day Harry curran.... Don't get me wrong, he puts himself about a bit and did so today, but he doesn't really achieve much with it does he?
  4. Frustrating as Celtic were there for the taking. They are a poor team, but unfortunately that still puts them above half of the league. Fortunate that most clubs are adjusting as if that Celtic team were in the spl 10 years ago, they'd be getting a few beatings. Anyway, I'd have liked to have seen a few more intelligent balls put through for may and Nigel. Against most teams, that performance would have won games and with just a bit more quality in midfield, I think we would have got something today. Arguably, we handed Celtic some of their best chances through stand offish defending, the goal in particular obviously. I always find the most frustrating thing vs Celtic and the dead lot is that it is not just the big decisions going against you that really frustrates, things like not getting clear corners and throw ins etc highlights just how much they get. Finally, Scott brown is the most overrated footballer since Paul mcstay and Barry ferguson. He just boots folk half the time, but cannot take the same challenges he gives out.
  5. Really?? Easton, yes, Edwards maybe but the other 2 I thought were poor. Davidson for me is just not good enough. He has stalled as a footballer and while 'decent' I seriously doubt that he will ever play at a higher level (really hope to be proved wrong). jahic looked a bit shaky and granted got better as the game went on, but I wouldn't have said he looks like a player who will be heading to brazil. Don't get me wrong, I don't think anyone had a bad game as such, but arguably, I'd expect more from Davidson and Jahic in particular, with both having represented their country recently. On topic, I thought Easton was really good. Looks better each time u see him and I think with a bit of 'conditioning' he will move upwards from saints.
  6. Seems pretty clear that some journalists jumped the gun by saying the ban is lifted. I'm no expert, but you'd have thought a 'proper' journalist would have checked with saints and the police rather than just take Celtic word and then go on TV etc to say flags allowed. If there is any bother, then surely the bbc and others should hold their hands up by adding to the confusion, although they wouldn't be directly responsible for what fans do. Just to add to the total clusterfuk that is the planning of this game, apparently, Celtic phoned ict by mistake!!! Can't believe that this would be true though....... However, this is Scottish football we are talking about.
  7. Well, if there is any smoke bombs or 'undesirable' flags from the Celtic fans, Celtic fc will look pretty stupid. Correct decision made in the end, but the sfa/spfl and police scotland should be pre warning them that if there is anything like their last game, they should get some form of punishment. And by that, it should be a 'proper' punishment.
  8. 2 sides to this as always. Club have to protect themselves and can't be seen to be allowing fans to flaunt whatever rules the police advise. However, on the other side, the problems lie with Celtic. If their fans misbehave, then it is their problem. I don't have issues with celtic's flags so much ( although I don't like them) but more so with the general behaviour of their fans and the songs. I will not take my kids to any saints v Celtic/rangers games, but if I did, why should they not be allowed to waive a saints flag that I can buy from the club shop at the game? Deal with the individuals involved and leavee the sensible majority to enjoy the game. As far as I am concerned, the boys at the front of the east do little wrong (smoke bombs aside) so let them be. They should however be under no illusion that police scotland will take action during games ( their own admission) against large crowds, so whatever Celtic fans get up to, leave them too it and they will be dealt with after the event.
  9. Hearts? Premiership bubble will burst soon. Clubs down there living in la la land. You have to wonder where the owners of these clubs realistically expect their clubs to finish. Cardiff seem to be the entire premiership condensed into one club; mad owner, unrealistic expectations, crazy spending and a total disregard for history and traditions. I'd hate it if saints ever lost our identity like most of these clubs.
  10. Might be in the same side as Gary Kenneth. Owch! How bad would they be.....
  11. What is most encouraging is that there is even a debate to be had. I think it is fantastic that we have players who are pushing for the first team and or are looking to go on loan with a view to getting there. For too long we had virtually no players coming through the youths and making the first team. All the signs are now that in a few years a large portion of our first team will be from within, which is the way it should and has to be. Not just for saints but scottish football in general. For once folk are getting it right all over the place.
  12. The reality is that these clubs come up to scotland looking for a bargain in a 'Mickey mouse league' which is fair enough, but maybe they should be doing a bit more homework. The reason we can afford to turn down offers like this is our fantastic financial position. A club like killie couldn't turn down a similar offer. I think however the days of cheep cross border raids will be soon over as clubs get their finances in order. May will leave soon enough, but damn sure is will be to a bigger club than rotherham and for more than £300k. I guess the £800k figure comes from an assumption that we'd get c£200k in a development fee if his contract runs out and maybe his contribution this season and next meaning a couple of places higher each season at c £200k per season, with a bit on top. I'd imagine that we'd take £600k plus add ons.
  13. With the greatest of respect to Rotherham, a player of mays ability should be aiming higher. They may well be on the up and could be in championship next year, but that is of no guarantee. In a year if he continues to develop as he is he would be at least championship level if not higher. If he was going to go to any league 1 club it should be a Sheffield utd, wolves or Coventry. All arguably premiership clubs who he could get promoted right up to the top. I think May is a different breed to Scott Allan etc, should stay and continue his education.
  14. Agree with every word. It is very difficult to compare the spl to any English league. The reality is that our top flight has players that are of premiership, championship, league 1 and league 2 standard. The same could be said of most leagues in Europe. That said, never in a million years are the likes of Swansea, Wigan or burnley bigger clubs than hearts, hibs or aberdeen. It is amazing how much money has inflated the English leagues in recent years. What will be interesting is how is plays out when the inevitable financial crash hits the English leagues. If may went to Rotherham (unlikely) then fair play to them for getting a fantastic player. Proper club and dedicated fans for staying with them through the years at the Dom valley.
  15. Obviously, we'd all want that, but some folk indicating that they'd rather he wasn't called up 'in case' he gets an injury.
  16. Sorry, caley then and same argument stands.
  17. 'Pulls pin on grenade and stands back'...: I'd rather see may get called up and capped and pick up a knock and miss the killie game than not picked. Would be a huge honour for the club not only to have a player capped, but also one that we developed. To me, that is more satisfying than 3 points v killie.
  18. Don't see the logic of Boyd getting a call up at all. By the time the qualifiers come around he will be 31/32 and 33 by the time of the tournament itself. By which time, I'd expect Russell, thumb and may to all be at a higher level and much fitter than him. Of course we are all biased, but with Russell injured and thumb having a game, may should have been in before Boyd and really should be in now McCormack is injured. If he was playing in Glasgow though....... How early on did Donnelly, birchill, crainey (Gerry) etc get called up? If a player is good enough and shows enough promise, then get them involved. If it were up to me, I'd be giving Gauld a call up too. That said wee Gordon is the best we have had in charge for a while.
  19. Ross McCormack out injured.........
  20. Yip, saints have a terrible support compared to other teams. Chick young on Saturday criticised the saints support and only seconds later on off the ball they were creaming over Aberdeen's 'fantastic' support. Who then do you think had the greatest % of their city's population watching their team on Saturday? I'll give you a clue, it wasn't Aberdeen. Saints get such a bad rap from the likes of speirs etc, when maybe they should look at the facts. We cannot in scotland bleat on about how we have such a high proportion of the population watching football each week and then ignore the same argument. Well done to saints for the crowds we do get. Yes, we would like them to be higher, but maybe we should look back and be proud that we did and can pull in a massive section of our fan base on occasions.
  21. Should ask the club for the big saints badge flag.
  22. I'm not so sure that Celtic or sevco is that appealing to a young player nowadays. Still in the same league is they currently are in and the absolute best move they can really expect from there is to a mid to lower epl club. Moving to Celtic for a young Scottish player adds an unnecessary step in getting to the top if that is where you think you will get to. Better for career progression to go to a championship side and either get promoted or picked up from there, see Adam, snodgrass and cowie as examples.

    Derek Adams

Apart from the fact that he is an odious little knob jockey he really pisses me off in every interview on TV. Eh, um, but ehm...... There is just something odd about the way he speaks. He is a pretty poor manager to boot.
  24. In fairness, the line went down. Did eventually go back to him. How refreshing to actually hear a saints manager talk up our chances of winning a major trophy! Always impressed with TW in the media.
