The WAP Man of the Match Awards return for season 2011/12, their sixth season. This term, the victorious player will hopefully again be presented with a trophy at the end of the season. So, who will follow on from Martin Hardie (2006/07), Andy Jackson (2007/08), Chris Millar (2008/09), Dave Mackay (2009/10) and Murray Davidson (2010/11) and claim the crown?

All votes will be public and voting will run for seven days after a match, after which time points will be awarded on a 3-2-1 basis according to the number of votes received by each player. Players must record a minimum of three votes to score points.

The leaderboard will be updated at regular intervals throughout the season.

Frustating afternoon. Almost as frustrating as the number of times I try to start these threads and they don't post!

For me, think I'll just go for Callum Davidson over Doughty, by virtue of the fact the former played the full match. Why are we letting this guy leave? We won't sign a better left back. Really hope the club have a change of heart. I like the fact Lomas was talking about keeping Murray Davidson on Monday night (Coyle and McInnes would have given up months ago - although detractors would argue it maybe shows he still doesn't grasp the finances) but really, he should be making noises about wanting to keep Callum Davidson.

Liam Craig played fine yesterday, as he did against Hibs. If folk don't want him involved because he has signed for Hibernian then I understand that (but don't agree with it) but trying to hide behind claims he has let the move effect his performances is making an excuse for just stating it. Certainly haven't seen him pull out of a single challenge that I'd have expected him to go in for previously.

I expect he'll play every week up until the split at least.

Here we go again with Hasselbaink. Look forward to seeing this whole thing grow arms and legs (e.g. refusing to warm up) and probably from folk who didn't even witness it. The guy put plenty of effort when he came on the park, did the proper part of the warm up but just chose not to do the shooting practice, as guys like Millar and Davidson do every week. Sitting on the ball was clearly stupid but really shouldn't be the big issue it threatens to become.

Don't get me wrong, he isn't having his best season but if anything, he's been better in 2013 than he was in the latter part of 2012. The thing is, he is always liable to pop up with a goal from midfield and aside from Murray Davidson, is the only midfielder we have capable of that, although the new boys may change that. We can talk about pretty patterns or whatever but at the end of the day, a midfielder who scores as many goals as Liam Craig does is worth having in the team.

I'm well aware of who I support and what our budget limitations are. That's why I am happy with Mannus. I just don't fall over myself saying he's a wonderful keeper when quite frankly he's just a 'good' goalkeeper. He does most things well but nothing exceptionally well. For Saints that's absolutely fine and he'll do a job.

However, when people claim he's the second best keeper in the league that's just plain deluded.

I'm in the camp that I'd rather have a keeper who makes mistakes but wins you games also. I enjoy watching a keeper who is capable of the 'wonder save'. We've been spoiled over the years with guys like Main, Rhodes, Encks etc who had the ability to produce something magical. But there's nothing wrong with being a steady keeper.

Randolph, Bell, MacDonald, Czerniak and maybe Samson. I'm happy enough with Mannus but he's not as good some make out. He's certainly solid enough though.

Andy Jackson ran away with last season's poll (Clicky) but who does the forum reckon is Player of the Year for 2008/09?

The captain, Kevin Rutkiewicz, for me. An inspirational figure who also popped up with some key goals at key times and generally dragged as towards the title at times.

Have included all the guys that featured regularly.

Much of the game has been covered so won't add much. Thought we shaded it until the first goal but looked beaten after that. Had a decent period before the break but came up against a goalkeeper that although mocked, wins his club points and matches. MacLean's chance was the big one and his miss was criminal. Started the second half with another couple of chances but our strikers have struggled in front of goal all season, so not sure why we should expect them to start doing better now. For a long part of the first half couldn't see what our plan of attack was and neither Tade or MacLean is suited or look like they enjoy playing out right.

We are into February and I couldn't pick the strikers that will get the nod against Hibernian next week. Does Lomas even know himself? That is a problem I feel. They do have different attributes but the fact that none can score regularly means it's hard to differentiate between them. If folk were asked to rate the four of them in an order, would anyone agree on the ranking?

Possibly but he's not a goalscorer, so the problem still remains of who you pair him with. He can play as many neat through balls as he wants but Tade and MacLean will keep missing the chances. I think individually at the moment I probably prefer Vine and Tade but neither scores goals and with Murray Davidson out of the team, Liam Craig is our only goal threat but then he's been shifted into a deeper central role today...

Lomas is right in what he says about wondering where we'd be if we had a goalscorer. The three teams above us have guys who have scored at least fifteen goals and then United and Aberdeen below us have McGinn with fourteen in the league and Daly and Russell with eighteen between them. MacLean, Vine and Tade average three each in the SPL.
