To be fair, I'm not convinced there's that much of a difference in the two quotes.

The first one he's saying there are three options, the 2nd he's said he's going with one of the options.

For all we know it's the more expensive of the three that he's been allowed to go for.

This will obviously now go to the Ryder Cup team from Europe. Not a proper team in an event where only 2 sides take part, and beating an individual country with 50 countries grouped together because they're not good enough to win it separately. Not really that impressive an achievement to be honest, winning a 50:50 contest at home.

What about a team in our national sport from a small city run on a shoe string budget winning their first ever major trophy in 130 year history, also reaching semi-finals of the other cup competition and qualifying for Europe for third season in a row?? In Europe they knocked out a quality Swiss team with fifteen times the budget, before narrowly losing in the next round.

What other teams have achieved anything out of the ordinary this year?

Saints will obviously not win it, but could we get them amongst the nominations?? Apparently the ceremony is being held at the Hydro in Glasgow this year so it could be a brilliant occasion for the club. The bbc might latch onto the May17 story as well.

Sounds very far fetched, but a lot of football clubs have won it in the past for lesser achievements; for example man utd or Liverpool had won the European cup before. Arsenal had done the double before. Sunderland got the award for winning the fa cup in 1973, west ham won it in 1965, the England youth football team won it in 1964!!!!??!!!

Amidst all the current doom and gloom, it would be a great way to thank the players and manager for that day.

A poisonous little deflection to cover the fact that you haven't backed up your assertion. I ask again, how much is Iraq contributing to the bombing of its own country?

I only mentioned hospitals as one potential better use of the money. But we could spend it on education, sport, roads or having a massive jamboree in the North Inch. Whatever. It's hard to think of anything worse than spending it on a counter-productive bombing campaign.

That said, I presume that rather than intentionally misleading us, you simply didn't fully understand the Daily Mail article you're basing your argument on. Because even that shambles of a paper puts the number of foreigners flying in to give birth at 300, not the 200,000 you claim. The £80m figure you quoted was a broad estimate of the costs of so-called 'health tourism', not just 'foreigners' giving birth. If you actually put in some effort to reading the same report, you'll also see an estimate of the cost of providing services to returning British 'expats' (few of whom are named 'Mohammed') of £94m. It also said that Britain was a net exporter of patients and that the NHS made £42m a year from paying foreign visitors.

Your fondness for scare stories is almost as acute as that poster who claimed that Scotland would be plunged into post-referendum civil war and that there was a run on the banks in Perth in the days leading up to the vote.

Oh, sorry, that was you. My mistake.

And that start was after the horrendous end to the previous season iirc.

As a Saints fan losing 3 on the bounce should never be panic stations!

We lost three and drew two at the start of that season, before beating Celtic on September 15 to record our first win of the term.

People need to bear in mind we're still the same team that was brilliant against Luzern, brilliant against Celtic until we were reduced to 10 men, who beat a good Aberdeen team and won trick away matches at County and Motherwell.

I don't think anyone's going to suggest we're setting the heather alight just now. Far from it. I don't agree with the lack of investment in the squad - but equally, we've been massively unfortunate with injuries already this season. As I said above - Maclean, Scobbie, Millar, Brown - all would probably be in most of our best XI's - all were out today. We then had Graham ruled out due to the terms of his loan. Murray Davidson played his first league match in months today - four days after playing his return match on the plastic at Kilmarnock. He can't possibly have been 100% fit.

I hope we can bring in a decent backup striker ASAP - that's essential IMO - but I'm not getting myself hyped up about being down the bottom of the league quite yet.

In 10/11 we were on 12 points after 8 games, winning our 8th game to make that total.

In 11/12 we were on 11 points after 8 games, winning our 8th game against a woeful Dundee side to make that total.

In 12/13 we were on 11 points after 8 games.

And last season we were on 9 points after 8 games, exactly the same as this season.

At our best we were three points ahead of where we are now. Last season we were in an identical position. This despite the fact we're absolutely shafted by injuries/other absences just now - with Maclean, Graham, Brown, Millar and Scobbie out for today's game.

Not even close to panic button time yet.

Much as I would'nt want to admit it...we are the easiest team....otherwise we would'nt have been drawn to play against them...yet another case of how little Saints are thought of in Scottish football, but all the more reason for us to go and show them that we are a better team, a better club and have better fans! I'll be there.

If anyone needed additional motivation to beat this shower of bigoted minks then please go to "the bears'den" rangers forum and just marvel at these tits already arranging their tickets for the semi and talking about how they are glad it's saints as it's the easy tie.

God, why has this team and it's culture with everything it stands for not been banned or fined by uefa! Bigoted fighting, political sing songs at every game, the Queen smiling on their dressing room wall.

I think I'm about to implode with disdain.

Hang on, someone humour me here, if it's split 50-50, does that include if we don't go?! Like if all the saints fans stay at home and watch it on the tele would we still get half the cut of the home end's gate?

You can put the idea of us ever having had those three at the same time out of your head as that is financially beyond a club like Saints. We may have got Goodwillie if the May saga had been finalised sooner but I believe May himself played a big part in the delay there. We would never, ever be able to afford to have all three players at the same time on our books. We wouldn't have been able to offer May the huge contract we did if we hadn't released Hasselbaink either.

Wouldn't amaze me if Kilmarnock end up in double figures of shots on target yet we win 1-0 due to a Brian Graham header, we're the type of frustrating side who do that to sides
