Bit of good news for Tranmere hopely.
CHAIRMAN Peter Johnson has revealed the sale of Tranmere Rovers is likely to be announced within two weeks.
The Birkenhead -born millionaire businessman said he had found a buyer who had a love for the club and who he felt "the fans can trust".
Mr Johnson declined to reveal the identity of the possible buyer but said they were someone who he believed had the money to take the club forward.
The hampers magnate has previously said he would not be inclined to sell his controlling stake in Tranmere until he can find new owners who can safeguard the club financially.
He had been in talks with the Tranmere Rovers Supporters Trust, who had ambitious plans to take the club into community ownership. But the Trust were unable to raise the necessary cash and pledges towards the project.

Mr Johnson said he expected the deal to go through in about two weeks but nothing was yet certain.
"There's many a slip twixt cup and lip", he told the BBC.
Speaking at last year's 100th annual meeting, Mr Johnson told shareholders: “I think running a football club is an expensive hobby and anyone who gets involved with it must be mad!”
Tranmere’s annual accounts show debts of around £7 million – £5 million in loans and loan guarantees to Johnson and around £2 million to the banks.
Johnson said: “What I’ve got is availability to money. It would be remiss of me, having saved the club in 1987 to hand it over to someone who does not have the resources to keep the club secure.”
