  1. I just came on to post the Beeb's response to my BBC complaint. However it's word for word the same as Saint Paul's. Seem's St Paul's Letter To The BBC wasn't taken as seriously as his letters to The Ephesians, The Thessalonians, The Corinthians etc.......
  2. If Swanson wants to come as much as it's been suggested then no doubt he'll come here. But now the deal doesn't have to happen tonight.
  3. BBC in mourning - Saints go one up and they all go quiet.
  4. Montreaux Jazz festival 3-18 July is always good, you don't need to spend to see a band, just go along to the park next to the concert hall and there's free bands all night every night. Hundreds of food and drinks stall all along the lake front. Glass fronted Golden Train into the Alps is expensive but worth the trip.
  5. Thanks to all who responded. Problem solved!
  6. Hi, quick plea for anyone who isn't trying to find cheap flights to places they've never heard of... I'm looking for a decent scan of the front cover of the Saints v Spartak Trnava programme. Can anyone oblige please, can't find any on t'internet.
  7. UEFA really need to take a look at themselves. These early rounds should be as regionalised as possible. UK / Faroes / Ireland / Iceland seems like a reasonable region. Armenia! Stuck between war zones and fruit loops! You'd need to take a week off and use a month's wages just to get there and back. Ridiculous.
  8. I wouldn't be too upset by Ylad Noj. Getting on, but great goals per game ratio.
  9. Had an excellent meal in The Apron Stage just last week. Friendly staff, good food. Jon and Fernandas in Auchterarder is first class.
  10. Since McCall said that part of the reason he left Motherwell was that the problems at Motherwell meant he couldn't sleep at night. God knows when he's going to sleep now!
  11. Maybe Tommy's been told that if he's fit he must start every game. :-)
  12. Had a great night at the curry night with a really friendly and chatty table - great food, great result and then to cap it all we get invited to the boardroom to meet the board, pose with the cup. Superb night out! Now for a good win against the Coags - or as Luggy referred to them, the... hmmmm maybe not, I'll get a yellow card.
  13. That's over £22 per head - seems a bit unlikely.
  14. The Easyjet comparison initially seems OK until you realise that the fans who NEED cheaper football are maybe those who can least afford to buy in advance. The other issue is that those who buy late Easyjet tickets are those that HAVE to fly with little notice. It doesn't work with football. What casual fan is going to decide on Saturday morning to go to the football in the afternoon if they know that entry will cost substantially more than it would have had they bought the ticket last week or the month before? Casual wait-and-sees are just that. They don't buy a ticket a month before in the hope that when the day arrives it might be a sunny afternoon. That said, there is a need for online ticket sales - it can't be that difficult - plus prompt and attractive advertising. I speak as the husband of a woman who in the latter half of May was desperate to buy a season ticket in the main stand - by the time the tickets were available her excitement had waned - and to date she has been to one game this season. I wonder how many other potential customers were lost. Many people just aren't going to buy a season ticket but could well be attracted along more often (a win or two would help!) with some deals such as those suggested by Plastered. The trick is not to make it more attractive than buying a season ticket. Getting that right is, I suggest, an almost impossible task!
  15. I thought the nature of the goals and penalty incidents ruined what, at nil-nil, was a fairly entertaining game. At least if mistakes like these are to happen then they all came in the same game. More of a concern to me was our constant long punt up the field from Mannus. It almost always gave possession away. MacLean was surrounded by players far taller than him and I only remember him winning a couple of these balls. Even then he really didn't have anyone to flick it on to. Celtic were always going to have more possession, but we were providing it for them.
  16. While May certainly scored a lot of goals for us last season. Boyd did likewise at Kilmarnock. The difference between Saints and Killie are that the rest of our squad, most of whom remain with us, are streets ahead of the Killie squad. It would be nice to see a new striker with a decent record or a midfielder with an eye for goal - Goodwillie and Craig might have been these men. But May leaving is not the end of the world and I suspect we'll see at least one pleasing signing before the end of the month.
  17. Goals just before half time are becoming a speciality
  18. OK, so it might be expected that after £26 for a ticket you'd expect the club to sort out any resultant mess. Having said that, in the past I've seen plenty people writing here that they love to be at the game but financial circumstances prevented them. So here was an opportunity to get a ticket for three hours helping out. No it's not a job, no it's probably not minimum wage value, but hey, no one was forced to go along. You don't agree, don't go. Simples.
  19. Lucerne fan told me that it is a matter of pride in Switzerland to steal and display other side's flags. He suggested that it might be displayed at McDiarmid on Thursday. A wee word to Perth polis beforehand might lead to it's safe return.
  20. I'm always incensed by the outfield player who, to prevent a certain goal, dives and saves with his hand. The obvious example is he Luis Suarez "save" versus Ghana in the last minute during a 2010 World Cup game. Suarez was sent off, Ghana then failed to convert the penalty and as a result were eliminated in preference to Uruguay, who had obviously got there through cheating. I seem to remember a similar incident where Saints were denied a winning goal against Rangers after Colin Hendry demonstrated his goal-keeping skills. My point is should the rules be changed so that while the player is still sent off, the referee can award the goal that the opposition have been cheated out of. In both rugby league and in rugby union, if the referee believes that a try has been prevented by the defending team's misconduct, he may award the attacking team a penalty try. It would at least prevent the type of injustice that befell Ghana.
  21. So when do we sign Ludovic Giuly and give him the No. 17 shirt?
