That is absolute bullsh**.
They are talking about promoting moving AWAY from sectarianism, perhaps by showing the pupils what is being done at parkhead to combat sectarianism.
As far as i knew, everyone here was a non believer in sectarianism, as much as it may be alive and kicking, and did not associate football and religion hand in hand. It would appear there are still some like Radford out there who simply cant see past this, as soon as someone mentions one side of the sectarian divide and football (as usual, its the catholics who get the slandering) then it is decided they are actively promoting sectarianism. Schools organise class trips all the time, especially to football venues as it is something that the pupils WILL actually be interested in for a change, ina venue they might actually listen to wat is being said to them. Some schools organise trips to the Neu Camp if they travel abroad, does that mean suddenly they are promoting basque seperatism and the ideas of ETA? I Do NOT think so.
The fact that a local Catholic School wants to visit parkhead (Which would seem to be the logical choice as many of them will be Celtic fans ALREADY for whatever reason that mey be - who waits until they are in secondary school to pick a football team to follow, purely based on one class trip??) should not be an excuse for someone to throw "Inciting sectarinaism" into the ring.
Thats just simply a ridiculous comment, but i dont want you to delete it, becasue i would like everyone to see how narrowminded you are to throw out a knee jerk reaction to such an issue.
Perhaps Saints could OFFER these schools the chance to have a trip to the ground, instead of waiting for the phone to ring as a way to entice more local people to football matches.
