  2. Never thought that any Euro result could match beating SV Hamburg. This result is right up there if not better considering the disparity of the playing budgets. Very!! Very!! Happy tonight.
  3. The guy has done a great job this season and hats off to him. Early call for his dismisal look really stupid now but thats fans for you. Just as well he had a strong chairman who stood by him when things were a bit down. Got to give a manager a proper chance even next season when new players will have to come in and replace old stalwards. Its quite possible that the first few games will see us struggle.
  4. I'm refering to the 2nd photo and I'm no historian but I think I'm not far away.
  5. This is a great picture with plenty of clues as to when it was shot. The banner in the background with the "SHE" lettering could be an adveristising billboard for the film by the same name released in 1925 Octiober in Portugal. Probably reached Perth in 1926. The "car" is a Lancia charabanc on a lorry chassis probably a Lancia Pentajota built from 1924-29. The picture shows a group of men as they embark on an outing. This is an all men affair so it is possible that it could be a sporting trip. Perhaps they are going to the football , the cricket or the races. The picture shows Brass (poulterers) at extreme left and Owler (factor) at RHS. Leslies Perth Directory 1929 has these premises as the photo. However in Leslies 1921 there is no Brass and 1935 there is no Owler. I think we can go with the "SHE" billboard and say that the picture was taken in 1926.
  6. Wouldn't wish him on my worst enemy!! Ohh ...Err.....
  7. Cairds. Sold school uniforms. A long time ago when I was young!!
  8. Total meltdown!!!! http://rangers.co.uk...r-fans-to-unite http://rangers.co.uk...-club-statement
  9. I would have thought that any club would have an obligation to promote the Scottish Cup. Green and Rangers in their support of the boycott seem to be doing just the opposite. Sponsors will not be happy! Bringing the game into disrepute???
  10. Nothing in the rules to say that Rangers have to take up their allocation of tickets. It would be up to United and SFA as to who these tickets would go to. A possibility that they would go to neutrals if there was enough demand. Could also give them to an outside ticket agency to sell to Rangers fans.
  11. Thanks for the replies. Still doing a bit of research. Found a great bargain from Tesco. Free international delivery from their F&F clothing website valid until 4th Nov.
  12. My memories of that day. First time my dad took me into a bar - North British. I would be 14yo Train to Mount Florida - Was this the last time a special train was laid on for Saints fans? The noise of the Saints fans in the Rangers end - my ears were still ringing an hour later. OK we lost but I'll never forget a great day out and a magnificent performance against a Celtic side who were at their peak.
  13. My daughter is on a working holiday in australia. Currently staying at Perenjori WA. She phoned home the other day and would like us to send a little gift from Scotland to show her workmates. She suggested a block of tablet. It seems as if the cost of sending a package far outweighs the contents. What would be the most economical way to send a low cost item to an address in Aus bearing in mind that time taken is not important. Any help would be appreciated.
  14. live text commentry on BBC is up to date but headline score still shows 1-2.
  15. No prizes for largest 4th tier attendances. Not many teams have failed so miserably as to find a reincarnation of themselves so far down the football ladder.
  16. Will play as deep lying central midfielder. Good range of passing. Good organiser and playmaker. Has he the legs for the Championship? You'll know within a few games but if he can still hack it at that level you will have gained a very good player who will help improve those around him.
  17. The longer this goes on the less likelihood of Newco competing in any league next season. Would that suit Greens' agenda?
  18. http://telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/rangers/9400788/Rangers-in-crisis-SFA-chief-Stewart-Regan-could-become-latest-casualty-in-saga-after-email-leak.html I'd be amazed if Regan can survive this! Regan's email: Dear all, Many thanks for your contribution and support over the last two weeks in trying to deliver a programme of change that will move Scottish football forward whilst addressing the need to deal with the Rangers matter with integrity and in line with our own values as an organisation. I was hugely encouraged with where we got to last night on a long and tiring phone call and I thank all of you for your efforts to move this issue forward. I thought it would be helpful if I summarised where I think we are: 1. The Rangers Football Club will be relegated to the 1st Division of the SFL with immediate effect and will be replaced in the SPL by Dundee FC. 2. The television rights for Rangers FC matches in the SFL will be purchased by the SPL for the sum of £1m as a one-off fee for the season 2012/2013. 3. The two leagues will merge into a single league body - The Scottish Professional Football League - effective season 2013/14 - with a working party set up immediately involving representatives from the SPL, SFL and (if required) the Scottish FA to plan the integration of the two bodies - people, rules, rebranding, commercial considerations and so on. 4. A new Board of Directors will be appointed to govern the single league. The make up of this Board will consist of an Independent Chairman, CEO, 3 representatives from the Premier League, 2 representatives from the Championship/Leagues 1 & 2 and 2 Independent Non-Executive Directors. 5. Play-offs will be introduced immediately with the first matches taking place at the end of the coming season 2012/2013. 6. Enhanced parachute payments will be implemented from the end of the season 2012/2013 to soften the landing for club(s) relegated from the Premier League. 7. A revised all-through distribution model will be put in place to provide: a) An all-through distribution model for clubs 1-22 and a minimum guarantee for 20 clubs in Leagues 1 & 2, equivalent to what they would earn under the current settlement agreement. 8. A Pyramid System will be put in place which open up the bottom of League 2 effective from the end of season 2013/2014 with the first opportunity for promoted clubs to enter the league being 2014/15 thus allowing for licensing to take place. 9. Consolidation below the Third Division to take place to create a Lowland & Highland League structure effective 2014/15 with appropriate play-offs and promotion/relegation to be put in place. Clubs to be briefed that the previous season 2013/2014 will involve the opportunity to enter play-offs for the first time. In terms of actions/timings I think the following needs to happen in this coming week: A) A joint statement today from all 3 bodies confirming that productive discussions have taken place on a new blueprint for Scottish football. Consultation will continue over the next two weeks with a view to clubs getting together week commencing 2nd July to try and agree the way forward. (D Broadfoot to provide this and circulate to DL/ND for approval) Rod P / Jim B to finalise the all-through financial model by Wednesday this week latest. C) Neil / David to finalise the detail on Governance, Commercials and Play-Offs (ideally Monday/Tuesday) and incorporate these, plus the financials in above into a legally binding Heads of Terms 'draft' for presentation to each league body w/c 2nd July. D) DL to organise SFL Board Meeting w/c 25th June to gain buy-in to the plan and also arrange an all club meeting w/c 2nd July E) ND to gain support from SPL Clubs 28th June F) SFL Clubs Meeting to be planned for 3rd July G) SPL Club Meeting to be planned for 4th July H) Scottish FA Board to sign off on the final plan post 4th July. Subject to approval all bodies (including Newco) to sign legal documentation. I) Agree joint communication strategy J) In parallel to A-D above, could Rod Petrie please brief Charles Green confidentially on the discussions from a Scottish FA perspective so that there are 'no surprises' and there is a general acceptance of the plan plus all of the other conditions discussed e.g. transfer embargo, fines, repayment of football debt, waiving rights to legal challenge, acceptance of relegation and so on. K) Andrew to ensure our check list of disclosures relating to Newco and Fit & Proper Person criteria are delivered by 2nd july. The Board will need these plus the Heads of Terms above in order to complete this plan. The Scottish FA Board have agreed to provide a one-off restructuring budget of £1m on condition the above plan is delivered. I hope this covers everything. Speak soon....now off to the airport! Regards Stewart Opens up a whole new can of worms!!!
  19. Is it really worth arguing with someone who is so out of touch with reality. To think that he was Chief Exec of SFA is scary. We must be very cautious with the next appointment. Regan has to go!
  20. Doncaster and Regan struck off Donald Findlay Xmas card list. At an Emergency Board Meeting held at Central Park tonight (4th July 2012) the Board again considered the matter. The Board decided that it would support any application by “Rangers” to join the SFL but would vote against the present proposal which, amongst other matters, would admit “Rangers” directly into the First Division of the SFL. This decision has been taken in the interests of football and the best interests of Cowdenbeath FC. A Board spokesman said “If integrity in our game is to survive, then Rangers must start off SFL life in the Third Division. This is an SPL problem but the Clubs of that league have taken their decision for reasons which they must explain to all Scottish football supporters. The SPL and SFA should have resolved this long before now. They have tried to pass the buck to the SFL clubs and have tried to force them to accept “Rangers” into the First Division – to provide the greatest benefit to the SPL. This lacks any integrity and casts a dark shadow over our game. Cowdenbeath FC condemns this approach. The Board is in no doubt that our stance is consistent with integrity and the long term financial future of our Club. We ask all supporters of what ever Club, who share our views, to rally round and back us in the Season ahead”. Chairman Donald Findlay added – “Speaking for myself, and myself alone, it is clear to me that people at the highest levels of our game have tried to hold a gun to my head and the heads of my colleagues. That will never work. But I have a long memory and will not forget what they tried to do and the way they tried to bend me, and this Club, to their will. That will never be allowed to happen”
  21. SPL votes to abide by own rules. Doncaster position untenable.
  22. Getting to the stage that no matter what happens fans will walk away. Everyone is sick and tired of seeing the authorities trying to gerrymander the leagues.
  23. Wonder who the senior source is? alex thomson ‏@alextomo SFL powerpoint document should be met with utter contempt by all decent football fans - senior source in Hampden Pk tells #c4news
  24. alex thomson ‏@alextomo Just had an extraordinary conversation with a senior Hampden insider. They're inundated with angry fans demanding integrity.
