  1. I'll still be there on Tuesday, we cant be that bad 3 games on the trot surely!! I know it's been said before but, INDIVIDUALLY - we have a lot of good players, problem being they just aren't playing as any sort of unit. I'm convinced the current players can turn it around but only if given some sort of direction from management. Over to you Del.
  2. I do actually think he looks a decent player, worth a contract I think. O.K his distribution wasn't the best today but as MS pointed out - who was there to pass to half the time?! I would say we need a GOOD centre half as more of a priority - the centre halves we have and the fact James will prob be injured most of the season means IMO Geoff should get the chequebook out for a CB
  3. I did like the look of McCoy when he came on but I've voted for Anderson, I think our defence is better with him in it
  4. Where to start with that? Well FWIW I think it's too early to be completely writing off Samuel, admitedlly he didn't have a good game today but he showed flashes and I think to get the best out of him it would be good to actually give him some decent service. The jury is still out for me. Have to agree that tactically Del got it wrong today, I actually thought it was correct to try dropping Irvine and put Ando at right back to stiffen the defence up. Ando played well there however the fact that Rusty had SUCH a complete nightmare meant he had to change it. Much as a lot of it was poor defending, it was midfield the game was lost. As numerous people before me have said, there was no shape. It did seem like Millar was trying to cover far too much ground with Hardie stuck out wide. I thought Craig was our best player the end of last season and I wont judge him on the games he's played out of position but the last 2 he's been back in midfield and just doesn't look like the same player at all. Where do we go from here? I hope Del knows, it's clear we need a new system that the players actually know what they're supposed to be doing. Also with it looking like James isn't going to shake injury, we need another leader. I know people have slated the idea and I wasn't keen at first but Steven Pressley anyone??
  5. Good experience for him, I'm sure he'll recapture the form of last season again and hopefully even better it
  6. Dont get me wrong, I can appreciate the benefits a good keeper can bring to the side. Look at the heady heights we achieved with Main at his peak in 98-99 However, look at Hamilton last season - conceded 4 goals at home all season(even given the plastic pitch) ................. with Bryn Haliwell as their 1st choice keeper! Let's get the defence sorted out and who cares who's between the sticks!
  7. If you read what I said, I didn't say there wasn't more. Cant have been many more though when you think how many Pars fans there was compared to Livi fans. I wouldn't even like to guess but there was probably 900 extra away fans IMO
  8. Whilst 3,697 is clearly more than 2,692 - I dont think there would have been much less Saint's fans at the Livingston game. It's simply a case of Livi's crap away support making it seem a poor attendance and the Par's decent away support bulking it up
  9. Gave it to Savo just for the amount of effort he put in, kind of summed up our day the chance he missed late on. Didn't really matter by that stage anyway.
  10. Yesterday was IMO his worst game for us but I dont think you could really blame him for any of the goals. Think Main will be back in goals next week, however Mclean is still young and can definitely improve his game, specifically his command of the box and dealing with crosses. He has made plenty decent saves, so I would say he's competent in that area, with improvement on the rest of his game, we will have a good keeper, given time
  11. Agreed the next 5 fixtures do look tricky, but there will be a lot of tough games in this league right the way through the season, the next 5 games after that include away trips to East End Park and Almondvale that wont be easy either. As Mainstand says 9 points wouldn't be a bad target, concentrate on making sure yesterday was a blip and we win ALL our home games. I'm hoping for a good response to the inevitable kick up the arse from Del next week though, 3 points next week would in some way cancel out the damage inflicted yesterday
  12. Dont know where to start on that performance, let's just hope as someone else said, that it was just one of those days where everyone had a stinker on the same day. Hard to take many positives from the game but I did think the left back had a decent game, Savo worked hard and at least looked interested. Definitely missed Hardie's presence in the middle, the sooner we get him or Morris playing the better. Paul Sherin has been a great player for us and dont like singling him out but he was awful today, probably the worst game i've seen him play for us. Big improvement needed for tough trip to Firhill next week, still believe the players we've got are capable though
  13. Looking forward to this game as well, it's obviously way way too early to speak about "must win's" although I feel it's extremely important to get another 3 points on the board quickly after the dissapointment of dropping 2 points late on last week. I fancy Dunfermline to be there or thereabouts come the end of the season, lets give them a doing - show we mean business! Not sure about Morris, will he bag a starting place if he is indeed fit again?
  14. From what I've seen so far there's no way we can drop Millar and I'm thinking him and Morris would make a good double act in the centre of the pitch, then it gets tricky, I would probably go for Hardie on the right of them and Craig on the left. That would obviously be in a 4-4-2 formation and would therefore only leave 2 places for a hell of a lot of players! In answer to the question though, yeah a fully fit Morris will start, I just hope he can stay fully fit
  15. You obviously weren't sitting in the vicinity of Sign Dave then! I also had someone next to me shouting abuse within the first half hour!
  16. Thought it was an excellent display by Mclean yesterday, had a few great saves in the first half. Will hopefully keep the "boo-boys" off his back for a while!
  17. He certainly was highly thought of by the Accie's fans, I remember a few of them sticking up for him after his massive blunder up at Mcdiarmid last season. Other than that blunder though, he seemed ok. Not sure if I'd like an Accie's "reject" tho, why are they letting him go?
  18. I do believe it could very well be a blessing in disguise, I've been concerned about the amount of injuries we've been picking up even before Saturday's game. The squad is even smaller than it was last year, if we want a cup run lets save it for the scottish cup, at least by then we can have opened up a gap at the top of the league!!
  19. We offered him a 1 year deal, which given his age and the fact his legs are starting to go, is fair enough I think. East Fife were willing to give him a 2 year deal, so he chose security and you cant blame him really. Still hoping Del pulls something special out the bag otherwise we will miss Stanic a lot.
  20. I had not long finished my dinner so didn't want any food, fancied a black coffee though, after standing in the que for ages was told there was no black coffee! Ended up settling for a coke - but at £1.80 it's a big jump from last year, what was it last year? 1.20? Prices on everything seem to be up big time
  21. I think he was 17, the ginger haired left winger. Plays for Northern Ireland I think
  22. Have to agree with the general concensus that going forward seems fine, really liked the look of Swankie and Millar. Think it would be harsh to blame the 2nd goal on the trialist left back, Akinbiyi seemed to get in between the 2 centre halves for me. Perhaps didn't look too clever at the 1st though. Irvine was at fault for the 3rd, gave Steve Jones, who looked an excellent player for them, far too much room out wide.
  23. I was sat next to Ando, James, Sammy and Goran was also there! Was speaking to Ando on the way out and the left back is a young guy from Everton. I thought he looked nervous in the first half but seemed to improve slightly as the game went on. I'd be a lot happier if we went out and bought an "established" left back than take a gamble on a rookie, which is exactly what we would be doing with him IMO
  24. Throughout the close season I've been quite excited about the new squad Del has been assembling - but will it have enough depth to it? I think every team in the division would be jealous of the players we can afford to leave sat on the bench every week(with a full squad fit) but will the fact we have a smaller squad than last year come back and haunt us? Hopefully it's nothing serious with James but the fact he's injured already, doesn't fill me with confidence that he'll be any more than a bit part player this season and it's the defence that worries me most. This isn't supposed to be a negative thread as ironically enough I still feel we have the best squad in the division, just with us having 6 out injured for tonight(and the season hasn't even started) it's made me think. I'm assuming we'll be getting a left back in of some sort, will it be enough?
  25. I'm really hoping Del pulls something out the bag, sounds like a decent player that Hazely. We'll just have to get a better one!
