  1. Im just back in from having a wee dance on the streets of Raith. The guy at the local chippy was fair pleased by todays events. He always asks how Saints got on since he found out that Im a Saintee. I told him we were pish yesterday and I wished him well an said that I hoped that the Rovers went on to win the cup. Im sure he gave me extra chips!
  2. Normal service has been resumed As you were ladies and gentlemen.
  3. A friend and work colleague wrote a book all about the streets of Perth. A free PDF version is available from his website. It has loads of good pictures of the Fair City along with excellent information. The book is called Perth street by street and is available from the page I have linked below. http://madeinperth.org/perth-street-by-street/ Enjoy, Jazz
  4. Team from the year I was born. RIP Derek. Back row: Finlay McGilvray, Alex Rennie, George Whitelaw, Derek Robertson, Jim Donaldson, John Connolly, Willie Coburn, Gordon Whitelaw Front row: Kenny Aird, Bill McCarry, Henry Hall, Benny Rooney, Alec Gordon, Fred Aitken, Ian McPhee The season is 1969/70 http://www.perthstjohnstonefc.co.uk/newsitemsdetail.php?param=1571
  5. Is it definitely an "Old Firm" match? The reason I ask is that only one old firm team will be playing. Or has Dungcasters oldconewco speech been written into Scottish footballs tablets of stone now?
  6. Interesting wee article on wings. Food for thought http://wingsoverscotland.com/know-what-youre-voting-for/
  7. Usually met the mates in the town and we would visit the arcade or Milkbar in south Methven street. Jump a bus up to florence place and wander round to the gate. Never really had a special standing place during the "wee games" but I do remember the crowd changing ends at half time (those were the days) Then the "big games" it was customary for me to stand in the shed next to the choir and the polis segregation and gie it laldy. Half time was pish stop time. I loved how the toilets were strategically placed next to the pie hut. Oh the memories
  8. You are possibly quite correct. Even King James Place. Depends where Larky was sitting drinking his kerry oot.
  9. Technically from the south inch you need to cross King's place before you get to King Street. I suppose the same could be said for crossing county place and Atholl street etc on the way up the road.
  10. Manus for me too. Kane made a great start for us but Manus kept us in the game with some great stops. He was actually unlucky with the goal. It was a great strike but he still managed to get his hand to it. Unfortunately not quite enough to keep it out.
  11. A decent half of football from us their. Now for a Murray's pie.
  12. I think they changed the rules so that it had to be played at the ground of the current Scottish cup holders!
  13. You are quite right Jings. I used to pal about with her laddie when we were at primary school. Our school was right across the road from dicksons on the Dunkeld road. We used to pop in to see Aggie for our lunch every now and again.
  14. "Today's the day the Teddy Bears had their pitch nicked."
  15. Well done! Officially the best scotch pie in the world! http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/murray-bakers-perth-crowned-2015-4979454
  16. Personally speaking I don't think this particular thread is the right place or the right time to be arguing amongst ourselves about the rights and wrongs of religion! Im not saying we should never talk about it on here, I just feel it is too soon after the event. We should be offering our Gallic cousins our thoughts and support through this difficult time! Voltaire famously said "I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it." The above is one of the principles of a free democratic society which we should never ever take for granted. Today the French motto has never been so poignant. Liberté, égalité, fraternité
  17. One thing I will say about him is that he definitely has loyalty. Has been with the same club since he was 9 years old. How many professional footballers can say that in the mercenary world of football, where there is very little loyalty to clubs.
