  1. If he keeps playing like this I can't help feeling he'll be snapped up by a bigger club in Jan unfortunately
  2. I've always felt that a striker should take penalties as they're paid to score goals. However, as far Sat is concerned, I think the tussle between Craig & Sandaza over who was taking it rather put Craig off. Once Craig had allowed Sandaza to take it & then was told by Del that he was to take I think it put extra pressure on him & I did fear that he might miss. I think Del should have let Sandaza take it &, whether he scored or not, after the match he could have impressed on the guy that in future he would have to stand aside & allow Craig or whoever had been nominated to take penalties to take it. Jamie Beatson's comments in 2day's Scotsman on Craig's abilities as a penalty taker were certainly clear enough.
  3. Agree & if people stand up in front of you you can't see a bloody thing. If fans want to stand then the club will have to create a terraced area.
  4. Enckelman as he prevented us from getting a real drubbing. Ando & Callum Davidson also played well.
  5. I think part of the problem last season was our inability to score. If the opposition scored first you could almost sense the feeling amongst our players of 'well, we are not going to win this one', particularly in the latter half of the season. So I guess you could say it was partly psychological. The SC semi was a good example of this. As soon as Motherwell scored we didn't look like we could come back.
  6. Agree. Yesterday's game was very similar to the SC semi against Motherwell. In the 1st half Aberdeen bossed the midfield & any time we had possession we didn't get forward quickly enough to support Sheridan leaving him isolated. A few times Miller broke forward & when he looked to pass it there was only Sheridan to aim for. Craig was anonymous & Mooner did improve things a bit in the 2nd half. Jody does do a lot of sideways/back passing but that's often cos there's very little movement ahead of him. Even with Haber & May on we didn't put 10 man Aberdeen under much pressure & if anything they had us on the back foot.
  7. £150k is a joke. They've already been criticised for offering £400k for Kenny Miller when the Turks had told them they wanted £900k which Cardiff promptly stepped in & paid. Perhaps Whyte thinks he can get players on the cheap. I'm sure some English clubs will meet Saints valuation in due course.
  8. Small clip in today's Express saying they're interested & McCoist is an admirer however no contact has been made with Saints. Said they're trying to sign their 'main' targets first. Given their lack of success with signings so far it could be a while then.
  9. Reports also said UCD were mostly composed of students & graduates. I'll make up my mind about Subotic after he plays against Dundee.
  10. Testimonials relate to 10 yrs service, nothing to do whether you are part of a successful team or not. Main was also with us when we were relegated & he moved to Livi 6 mths later.
  11. Yes & he was part-time most of his career as was Brogan.
  12. As I'm over school age my name's Scott & I, like you, have just expressed 1 man's opinion. Simply saying that Main & Weir were no more deserving of a testimonial than Peaso (in my & others opinion).
  13. Frankly if 'come & get me Dundee Un' Main got a testimonial then Peaso deserved 1. Also Weir spent a lot of his last few years as a player at Saints out injured.
  14. I'll be surprised if he hacks it in the EPL. He'll be farmed out to lower league teams then move to 1 of them permanently or back to Scotland.
  15. Said in papers Saints couldn't afford the £50k fee for Mark Stewart of Falkirk due to our big losses this season & the £130k spent on the pitch. However Del said we offered Forsyth a 3 yr deal & according to Dundee fans we offered £30k for him. The rumoured signing of Finnegan sounds like he can't afford the 'quality' strikers he was talking about. We can't have another low scoring performance like last season cos fans will quickly lose interest & stay away. If it is a problem with the budget GB should try & push the boat out a bit & allow Del to get the quality up front he requires cos if attendances fall it could cost the club more in the long term.
  16. GB thinks Cardiff would be taking a risk with Del due to his relative inexperience. This constant speculation everytime a job comes up certainly isn't helping Saints. If he is going I'd prefer he went now rather than after the season started.
  17. No I saw his best game for us.....the friendly before we signed him
  18. Yeah well I didn't chip into Main's testimonial.
  19. I remember when Sturrock moved to Dundee Un as manager & Main did his 'come & get me' piece in the press. Also when we were relegated he couldn't wait to get away to Livi.
  20. Just a pity he was bloody awful in the semi-final

    grainger

Hearts also signed Ryan Stevenson & although he isn't a 1st team regular he does play about as much as he played here. Their interest in Grainger is as much a surprise to me as their signing of Stevenson.
  22. PA said we're definitely not going for Harkins but have tried to sign Forsyth but Crystal Palace are the favourites to sign him. Del says he's looking in the lower leagues for strikers as we don't have the finances to sign 'proven SPL quality strikers'.
  23. He looked fitter & leaner in the last few months than he has for a while. Apart from the cup goal against Hearts, his dribble against Killie where he beat 3 defenders only for his cutback from the byeline to be blootered over the bar by the player (can't remember who) running on to it & his head flick on to Jacko on Tues against Hamilton which led to the 1st pen were amongst some of the signs that I thought might have earned him another 6 mth extension. However his wave to the fans at the end of Tuesday's game made me think he knew it was over at Saints. I wish him all the best for the future & as has already been said I hope we don't regret it.
  24. Millar, especially this season.
  25. If this is true then £1m per yr over 5 yrs doesn't sound a lot to get a relatively small club into the Championship. However GB has said the money on offer is much more than we could afford & as we're going to make a big loss this season Del perhaps feels he isn't going to be given the funds required to bring in the quality of player he needs. As someone has already said if the team gets off to a bad start next season he'll be under pressure & so perhaps he feels now is the time to bail out even if Brentford wouldn't be his 1st choice. However the Brentford fans appear to have lots of other candidates they'd prefer as manager.
