  1. Just trying to keep bumping up interest in Saturday's important game against Killie.

Slightly off topic but worthy of mention is how our excellent our new pitch has stood up this year. I was always moaning about last years pitch and calling out the ground staff but they have performed admirably this year. I suspect with the weather over the next couple of days it is going to be really tested.

  2.

Plenty good material coming out from the club including an interview with Fraz -

    https://twitter.com/St_Johnstone_FC

Always loved Fraz; when ever I was at an away match and Fraz was out warming up he always gave the thumbs up and applauded  the support irrespective of how many were there in the stands - made you feel part of the team before the game had even kicked off - great player and Saints legend.

  3.

Challenge for TW to try and find a way to take a performance like Saturday's into a home game against a bottom six side.

Form suggests that if we get the first goal, we'll win the game, so hopefully a focus on starting with the right tempo and intensity, something that is unfortunately often missing at home, when we let the opposition settle too easily.

Not sure what the issue is with Swanson but I'd be content to see him on the bench and start with Alston and Wotherspoon out wide after their performances in Dingwall. I know there will be a clamour for Alston centrally and I do think he can carve out a future there but he's been playing well on the right too.

Hopefully the promotional push will be as successful as the last one and we'll get another 3,000+ crowd.

Great post. 100% with you on getting the tempo right straight from whistle.

This is another great opportunity to squeeze in to fourth place- how many times have we had a chance to do that and then got a nose bleed? Come on Saints we are over due a great performance at home.

  4.

According to Sky sports news the bookies don't even have him in the top 10 favourites, while I know they have been wrong and someone will quote trump and Brexit : P Haha, They don't tend to be that wrong about this kind of thing. I think we are pretty safe

Your post makes sense but this is football. I'll be glad when they find someone to be the next scapegoat.

All the same I'm kind of resigned to losing Tommy in the summer anyway, I just can't see how he will be passed over for something big if we again are top six and definitely if we catch the European spot from 4th.

  5. I have a couple of **** in my office ( home & away) and they tell me word at the Dundee game yesterday was that Tommy is a hot favorite and a popular choice within the Big Blue House. Pure conjecture I suppose but I hope this gets sorted soon and Tommy doesn't get affected by speculation.

  6.

The whole tone of the interview came across as him making everyone aware that it's up to the club to finalise a deal. Can't remember him making any reference to negotiations or talks, just that the balls now in the clubs court.

I though it came across that he was pressuring the club into accepting his terms. Maybe I've misinterpreted it.

I kind off agree with this. I was very disappointed with Danny's comments in the press.

I like him a lot but last year I was seriously pissed off about the MOH affair and the way he derailed the club and in particular the semi against HIbs.

All I want is this sorted out soon. We will move on without Danny if he values sitting on the bench somewhere rather than playing a vital part for us.

  7.

Hard for them not to look good when we gifted them three free headers!

16th, 17th & 18th of 18 headers conceded out of 24 goals let in up to that point, I think.

Fair point but they were bottom when they visited and looked up for the fight. We got out-muscled all over the park and the game was gone before a half time pie could be sniffed.

Usual cold start for us at home at has been the scourge of our McD form, chasing the game after losing a sloppy early goal.

  8.

Has anyone actually bothered contacting the SLO or the Club?

I contacted Bev about an issue over disabled parking for my father and had a response within 30 minutes and got it sorted. Great service.

Pleased to say I have had a very nice email from the club SLO

I can only apologise for the inconvenience of the east gate being closed to vehicles pre-match last Saturday and  for any confusion caused by the lack of communication on our part.  The gate had to be closed at very short notice for operational reasons.  Going forward we do not expect it to be a regular occurrence but cannot guarantee occasional closures due to the ongoing construction of the new road.  However, we will endeavour to communicate any future closures in advance via our social media etc

Should you have any other queries or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me.

    Kind regards,

    Beverly

  9.

    Take a flask of tea/coffee/soup.

    Wrap some sandwiches in tinfoil.

Leave them in the car for after the match.

    Listen to radio/music.

    You're welcome.

It's easy to make flippant comments about what would seem a fairly mundane issue but if you are travelling to McD and rely on stadium parking let me assure you poor organisation for the paying public gets right on your wires!

Do I really want to drive for an hour to watch my team - no problem, that's my team - do I want to sit in tail backs or be diverted to an area of Perth I have no reason to go to- No!

It's all about the match day experience and making fans feel they are valued and hopefully catered for - if not they will sit in the house and listen to the Radio or watch the box - we need all the fans we can get and we don't want to piss off the ones we have.

  10.

Don't think it's helpful to falsely declare Rangers were throwing stones at cars. I never seen anything of the sort and there were 2 horses overlooking the car park along with loads of strewards and a few other polis. The horse police were the same guys that turn up at the Ibrox games and take no nonsense. So stirring trouble claiming Rangers stone throwing is pretty lame and totally sucks.

    Hold on here.

I don't come on here to tell falsehoods.

This is completely of topic but let me confirm; I sit in the West Stand and left right on full time. There was loads of disgruntled Sevco fans (obviously pissed off because the 'kiddy on' team had denied them victory) streaming out of both stand and directly opposite the west stand - fans picked up stones and started chucking them at the cars. I felt sorry for some old guy who had just left one of the disabled bays and looked alarmed as his car was struck.

If there were horses in the car park they weren't near this area and the stewards were never going to confront this sad excuse of society.

In the words of Rafael Benitez - Fact!

I don't mind if this thread is bumped over to the other chat room.

  11. No issues if Tommy went to the "new" team but it would not stop me hating everything about that organisation.

Just after Christmas I watched these idiot fans of Sevco picking up stones in the car park and throwing them indiscriminately at cars. Just cemented my disgust for them.

Having said all that I think it would be more likely our Tom would end up at Aberdeen when Derek McInnes goes to his spiritual home at Ibrox.

If and only if  Tommy moves on he deserves better than both.

  12.

I don't think we should underestimate the financial damage done by not getting to the next round? Not only cup revenue, but effectively the end to our season. You have read on this forum and fans decision not to turn up for the remainder of the season... ok so we still have a chance of Europe, but if the club is to be believed previous forays into Europe have ended up costing the club money. So really just the hope of a good cup run to keep our season going :-(

That's a fair point. The financial cost to the club will be substantial but there is still plenty to play for - the sooner a top six finish is achieved the better.

  13. What I found most disappointing was our lack of imagination in the strategy for this game; that's on the coaches. Here was an opportunity to switch up our normal game plan from the bread & butter of the league, maybe push an extra man up front. Try something different.  I said in my first post on this thread in my opinion we were playing with house money. Instead we started as we always do at home trying to "feel" our way in to the game and got caught cold by a Thistle team far more energetic than us in the opening period. Been stated here earlier the first goal is so critical nowadays.

I was hoping for a rip roaring cup tie with both teams going for it and instead it was a carbon copy league duty.

We'll play worse and get a draw.

Good away support from the Jags, well done but disappointing attendance (below 3000) when prices were decent.

Pitch still looks in good shape, this is encouraging after last years problems.

  14.

I'm not 'chucking it'' or being ''hysterical''. My ''faith'' hasn't wobbled or whatever you want to say. I'll be back as I always am.

I'm just not going to pay money to sit in the cold and watch that. It was shite, it was boring and for me it was all too typical a performance and very predictable. I don't know what our problem is when it comes to teams below us in the league, but yesterday, Partick simply wanted it more than us and it showed by a mile. That's not the Saints I know. The Saints I know always gave 100%, always bust a gut from the start, you could never ever say we were out fought on the pitch. Well it's happening too often. Teams below us come to Perth and do to us what we used to do to everyone. I think the most entertaining thing at McDairmid yesterday was the Ghost and his crew shouting pish at the players and the ref........

The most telling thing for me is the fact that my gran, who has been watching Saints since the dawn of time and has been taken me since I was able to go, said for the 1st time ever to me that it's too cold and expensive to sit and watch that.

I agree completely with this point. When Ross visited us when they were rock bottom they went after us from the gun and we couldn't get in to the game. We are too predictable at home are always left chasing the game.

  15.

Can't blame the manager as that was arguably our best starting eleven in a 4-4-2. The players though just didn't turn up. Ando and Joe looked like they'd never met, Midge held the ball up well but did nothing with it other than play a square ball. Spoony was woeful and Swanson just vanished - one of the few saving graces was seeing the effort both Liam and Blair put in when they came on - enough to deserve a starting place.

Macca was really poor up front and Cummins just got little all afternoon - either caught offside or else bullied off the ball and suckered into conceding a foul.

Only Zander, Muzz and Foster came close to getting pass marks today. The rest just need a boot up the erse.

I have had a an adult beverage or 2 to dull the pain but you have summed up perfectly.

    We were awful.

I'll chip in tomorrow when i have sobered.

  16.

Saint Jet,  the above post is yours. Do you see the bit where you've said winning the cup is beyond us?

    What is your Point?

Are you missing something? I have paraphrased but essentially said the same thing.

What do you care if my opinion is different from yours?

Let me explain; this is a place where people come to exchange views. Mine is different from yours. Enjoy the game tomorrow and hopefully if Ando lifts the cup in May you can can tell me you were right to have more faith in our chances.

You started the "game" thread; do have anything to add to the topic?

  17.

Sorry Abernethy,  but ScottMan was correct -  that WAS the question. Accordingly to Jet we have no chance of winning the cup and should concentrate on the league.

Your wrong. I said "my" priority was the league because it  gave us best chance of reward. I'd love to win the cup again but I am realist. Please feel free to have a different opinion of course but don't speak for me I can do that just fine.
