  1. Wow, heavy stuff. In my opinon the sensible position seems to lie in between the different views best expressed by Saint Kev and Blue Heaven. I agree totally with Saint Kev that there is a compelling attraction to this sort of stuff, and I very much admire his honesty in speaking up for his attraction to but fear to get involved in this primeval tribal posturing. I also think he is correct to back those who argue that the casuels ARE supporters of the club. A stance - by the way- Stuart Cosgrove has defended on radio. However, at the same time I can see Blue Heaven's arguement regarding the harm that such folk can do to the club, and the dubious rationale regarding supporting your club by arranging fights with other supporters. My own feelings are that I would much rather compete with clubs like Hearts and Aberdeen by supporting - vocally a side that can give them a game on the pitch, than associating myself with any fighting in the streets of towns that families have a perfect right to go about thier business without fear of being caught up in pre-arranged violence of a Saturday afternoon. Sorry guys, but I refuse to dignify any activity built on violence and fear by describing it as a "culture". A virus is a more accurate description surely. So in the end I have to side with those who find the actions and the mentality of these folk unacceptable. All the crimes Saint Kev lists are also unaceptable, and the imaginary scenarios he describes are irrelevant. They are nort prearranged, glorified or celebrated. However, I have to say, from what I've seen of the contribution he has made to the club over the last few seasons, if Saint Kev and his likes represent the future of the Saintees support we are in good hands. Let's hope the casuels can follow his committed, inclusive and Saintees minded example.
  2. hard to choose just 3 but going for: Rust Never Sleeps - Neil Young The Bends - Radiohead Solid Air - John Martyn
  3. Stanic - outstanding! Praise also to Rusty, Scotland and Owen Coyle as manager for having the courage to shuffle the pack and take a real gamble; came up trumps thankfully...

    Scotland

Agree that Scotland had a good game. Not sure about Radford's point that he is technically better than anyone else in the side. For me Stanic has looked the most accomplished player this season. I still feel that there are times that Jason could release the ball that bit quicker. OK his strike partners are maybe not quick enough/ astute enough to move off the ball for him to give him an option at times, but it seems to me that passing is always the last option for Jason.
  5. The highlights don't give any idea of the contribution Sheerin made. Still good to have them. Shame Scotssport first looks like it won't continue next season. Hopefully that won't matter to us as we'll be recording our games on Monday night!
  6. Has to be Anderson if we stick to the 3-5-2; and I think we have to given: we have no natural right back in the team apart from Mensing, and also - although the 3-5-2 has weaknesses that were exposed on Saturday, we seem to win with this formation and I can't see Coyle changing it. I wouldn't!
  7. A good accou nt of the game from Dr Dev: Hamilton made the 3-5-2 look pretty vulnerable when they were coming forward, especially as Dev says, on the left wing. Ryan is not a right back and had a nightmare - defensively that is. Thougt that Dobbie, Hardie, Rusty, James and Glennon had very good games, but Sheerin - often dropping back deeper than usual was fantastic. Maybe you need to see him from behind the goal to appreciate the work he puts in? The first half was a bit grim, but the second half more than made up for it. OK the other results didn't really help us but, hey, we were playing Accies away, the midden had Stranraer at home, so we shouldn't be disheartened about not losing any ground this weekend. I think we'd have taken these results if offered them this morning.
  8. oops, joke worked ok before I posted it! Pesty computers! Banda machines, them were the days! What you saw was what you got. Youth is wasted on the young.
  9. I would certainly play Coyle. We win games when he starts! For me: Cuthbert Mensing Rustybitz James Stevenson Winter Sheridan Sheerin Stanic Coyle Scotland And yes, there are glaring gaps when you look at my formation - but hey, I'm kinda new to this computer malarkey. I'm 47, women are ambivalent towards me. (Cuthbert needs to move right a bit. )
  10. Good on you for giving us another site. This will be particularly welcome to those far flung Saintees who will be desperate for any news views etc. Looks good already. Like the photos! Best of luck!
  11. Come on guys! Surely this is a manifestation of whatever that syndrome is that makes us all miserable at this time of year. How many who have posted have sung "Saintees till I die"? Surely you meant those words? Not "Saintees till we hit a bit of a slump and the prices seem a bit steep!" It's not that long ago- in my years anyway - since we finished 3rd in the Premier league. And, correct me if I'm wrong, the closest to finish behind the old firm since then. OK, things are not so good a the moment, but they could be a hell of a lot worse. I will most certainly be renewing my season ticket next year, and I'm sure most of you will too! Keep the faith!
  12. Got to stay full time. The alternative is to accept we are just a wee team with wee hopes. Please Geoff keep thinking big!
  13. I would say at least 500 Saintees. The announcer said a 3729 attendance at half time.
  14. I agree with Temple's analysis. The Cat was fantastic, and it's great to see him doing so well these days. I've felt for a while that all he needed was an extended run in the team to build up his confidence and get him back to where he was just before Main came back from injury and - in my opinion - unfairly relegated Kev to the subs bench. Jason played well and it's easy to see why he can be reluctant to pass in front of goal. He set up Savo in front of an open goal only for him to miskick the ball. Jason got hit by a cup which in itself might seem trivial but I think that any object thrown at a player has to be taken seriously andI hope the idiot who threw it is identified and banned. Not a bad result, but we seriously need a creative midfielder to provide quality ballsto our front men or we are going nowhere. Finally, I like Love Street, you get a great view from the big steep stand, but their floodlights are an absolute disgrace; could hardly see what was going on at the other end of the park in the second half.
  15. I'm just so sad that he has gone and having experienced this kind of loss I know what his family will be going through. A good friend of mine lost her husband very suddenly. He was a Stirling Albion supporter, and I know she was greatly comforted by reading the tributes that were posted on the web site for him. Gone but in no way forgotten. RIP you were a Player.
  16. We need a right back and a creative midfielder. Anderson may come onto a game at right back; Mensing, I'm afraid to say, has the touch of an elephant. Sheridan is great in the terrier- ball winning mould, but we need a playmaker in the middle of the park. I've faith in Cuthbert, Stannic, Rustybits, Milne and Scotland.
  17. Sheridan for me - just ahead of Stanic and Rusty Bits. Just behind them: James, Scotland, Milne and Sheerin and Cuthbert. The player of the year could be any of these 7.
  18. Sheridan, just ahead of Savo and Goran.
  19. Soluable Solpadine, Lucozade, fried egg roll. Works every time!
  20. I can hear him fine - at the South end - or far right side of the East stand.
  21. Last bit along the lines of... So please those of you who have had a go at the people who have booed or posted critical comments, realise that praise means nothing without the right to be critical when required and yesterday was just not good enough. Must do better. Simple as that, and anyone who suggests otherwise is surely prepared to accept mediocrity. Having cheered this team on to 3rd place in the premier, I'm reluctant to accept th
  22. oops lost the last bit. will try to repost!
  23. I'm not sure what some people want us to do after a game like saturday... appluad the players off the park? Stay in the East stand and sing "One man went to mow" or various permutations on the Doh a Deer theme? I've never booed a Saints player during a game and have always tried to give encouragement up until the final whistle. Yesterday I scooted out of the game at the sound of the final whistle without booing, but not very happy with what I'd seen - which was, lets remember, a complete inabality to break down a team of part time players who came to pack the defence. Surely we can't be happy with that. Surely we can expect more from our team, our manager and our club. Surely we can allow people who pay
  24. The Cat for me. His 2 great saves edges him just ahead of Dazza, Rusty Bits, Stevenson and Stanic. Here's hoping for a more stable forum but credit and massive respect to Blue Heaven for all he's done and continues to do!
