As for slashed budgets..Do you think our club made a profit or loss last season?? and if so what do you think it might have been?
 
We sold 1531 (ONE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED AND FIFTY ONE) season tickets last term. We had the lowest average crowd in the SPL with just 3712 ( we finished 3rd) Ross County 4429. Dundee (relegated 5924) and even St.Mirren 4389..
 
We are hardly awash with money  matey..
 
 
Given the financial strife which is running through Scottish fitba  right now, I am delighted our club is  making sure we are, and will remain, solvent for the forseeable future..

ive been watching saints for 24 years and only witnessed 3 euro games at mcd.
 
these games are fecking priceless!

I am on the charter. Just a working bloke who has not had the opportunity to travel abroad on our previous adventures.

Yes I could have done it cheaper, dossed about in airports overnight but I am willing to pay a bit extra for the door to door service and the craic on the plane home when we have got a result in Trondheim.

The important thing is that Saints fans are there to support the team at a cost that they individually find acceptable.

The reaction to this signing on here is actually embarrassing.

Maybe I'm a pedant too - but I cringe every time I see a 'greengrocers' apostrophe' (as in apple's, orange's etc etc.).

It is distasteful because of your barely concealed implication of linking this to Richard Brittain.  Mods - please delete his post - completely insensitive

Clearly we are at a crossroads. I have always remained loyal to managers sometimes blindly loyal. I do not think we should rush to judgement but I agree with many posters who are unsure of Steve's tactical acumen and unconvinced by his demeanour. One thing has struck me and it's quite worrying. I think Steve Lomas thinks he is better than Saints. His playing career at Man City and West Ham may have led him to believe he has worked at a higher level and St Johnstone, it's fans and the Board can learn from him. Sadly, the opposite may be true- there is much he can learn from Saints, working to a budget, getting value from a squad, winning over the hard core support in a small town.,

I was astounded how naive he was at the height of Rangers scandal thinking that identifying with them would somehow endear him to the media and therefore Saints fans. It was a serious misjudgement. Some will remember a news piece in the Manchester Evening News that he could not buy Lee Croft unless Rangers were fast tracked back into the SPL. It was misconceived and one of several veiled attacks on the Board. He has been a huge disappointment and whilst he has my support it's a close call. I'm with Aitchy. October and with some very tough targets or he can go to a dream job at Murray Park.

This stuff about over-achieving... even if there's a degree of truth in it (which is always going to be debatable), a good manager SHOULD over-achieve. It's his job to get the players playing above themselves. That's the only way a club of Saints' resources and fanbase will ever succeed, and Lomas should know that. If he can't accept that, and fast, it's never going to work for him here.

His excuses about over-achieving and squad size, even if based in truth, should be kept out of his post-match interviews. The club has backed him in funding signings like Vine and Beattie, and now it's his turn to do the job with those players. We don't need yet more signings. The squad is more than good enough. What we need is for him to stop moaning, start being positive about the fantastic job he's somehow managed to find himself in, and get on with doing it.
