    MacLeans comments -

Ahead of the game MacLean gave some direct answers to reporters, he said: "We will be in the Premiership. We will go to Kilmarnock and we are going to win the game, simple as that and what will be after that will be."

We will go to x and we are going to (x to) win the game.

Sounds ok, not disrespectful to the opposition.

But onwards and upwards and fingers crossed going to be a rollercoaster over the next few weeks, the board have buried their heads and let it get to this stage when we were comfortable and should have punted him earlier but allowed Davidson to continue out of sentiment and this is the result!

I wonder if perhaps the board waited two weeks too long to remove the manager in the end. I hope not.

Sent an email to the club today with some questions for the meet and greet, hopefully they are read out or even acknowledged that they were received

    Was that sent to supportersgroup@perthsaints.co.uk

If so, should have been received. I’ll ask about it and see if your questions can be put forward. That’s if I can identify you from your email.

Did we not have a spell this season when Gordon was out we were winning games and started losing them when he returned.

Was a big Gordon fan but this season he has been dire.

It’s never as simplistic as that though Cagey. Admittedly his form has been poor, but it is in the context of the formation and selections made by our inept manager. Hallberg has been poor, Carey too. They all need a bit of a lift, and I see only one way that will happen.

Listen to Kettlewell and Robson talking about coming in and getting the basics right. In Aberdeen’s case, the defence, in Motherwell’s doing the simple things right. We need some kind of reset like that to allow the right players to play in the right formation before it’s too late. We have a decent enough squad but CD can’t get anything much out of them.

We're probably going to have to go into next season with yet another re-built defence, which isn't something that massively fills me with confidence.

It’s not the rebuild that’s the problem, it’s the one who’d currently be doing it.

Definitely. Agree fully. Our conservative board will paddle on sadly. The mood and feelings from the East Stand on Saturday was a massive sense of "same sh*t".   The fact that our last home win was against Sevco is appalling.  I'd sack him if we get beat on Saturday.....our board won't though.

Lost me at Kelty. Whatever other factors matter, that was it for me. Nothing since has changed my thinking.

I've been going home and away since I was old enough to be allowed out alone pretty much. It used to be the highlight of my week, pretty much my main priority in life.

I just couldn't care less now. It's not that we're not winning as often, its the absolute certainty of the rinse and repeat formation and selection. The thought that, if we do score first, there's no chance we go and win 3/4-0. Just bleak football.

I'll probably be there on Saturday as I've got a season ticket, but if there's the the hint of an opportunity to do something else, I'll happily take it. Absolute sacrilege to the me of a few years ago.

That is so sad, and isn’t an unusual attitude right now. Many of our more level headed fans are feeling this way. It’s such a shame that our club is eroding in the way it has been.

100% this. Standards were set for this football club by Tommy Wright. Staying up is no longer acceptable, just as it wouldn't be for Kilmarnock and Motherwell. We have been a top flight side for 14 years and need to start acting like it.

As a wise man once asked, are you not entertained?

I'm so far from it you wouldn't believe.

And it's not even like results are good. We are losing games at a rate not seen since we were last relegated.

TW left us with a good, younger squad and as an established top six side (look how hard St Mirren and others try and can’t get top six once or twice). This manager has taken us from there to a point where survival is an achievement. That is no achievement, two cups or not, and that’s why we have been so disappointed these past two seasons. I don’t know CD as a person but as a manager I hate his negativity on and off the park. Tommy’s teams could be dull but were mostly effective.

Crossed my mind as well. Again it is just basic communication with the fans, update on squad and injuries etc we hear nothing. The bug was mentioned in passing on saints TV however of this was indeed the case and communicated at the time then fans are maybe more understanding of the last couple of performances and instead of being totally frustrated and angry maybe rally round the team a bit more at the time

Hey, maybe we’re all looking at it the wrong way. Remember the old song about us being St Johnstone supporters, faithful through and through? Blind loyalty, that’s what’s required. :)

Last night's team selection is exactly why Callum is still a worry.

I understand he's still learning but we all looked at that midfield 3 and knew it was missing something.

Why can Callum not see that?

That cost us the game, almost immediately.

Absolutely. And if we, the untrained, can see that…. Why take the three softest, weakest midfielders in the league and play them together from the start, hand your opponents the initiative, which they took, and gift the three points during a very poor first half hour. Then say you thought the team didn’t start the game well. It’s baffling.

Draw for fourth round being held after after Ayr v Pollock game tonight.

Hope we don't get an away tie to one of the 3 or 4 junior teams stil in draw. Mind you I don't suppose their pitches are any worse than ours .

Away draw to a junior side would give the manager an opportunity to try his back five formation against non league opposition

Didn't think it was a red at the time, I'm just baffled why it took the ref about 4 minutes to make that decision considering he watched it numerous times on a screen

30 or 40 times according to McInnes :)

The plastic pitch wasnt a problem last season, we only lost once there, winning and drawing the other meetings.

The season before we won 4 out of 6 games on plastic, losing only once.

It seems strange to suddenly decide its an impossible surface for us to get a result on.

This plastic problem is right up there beside the notoriously slow starters nonsense. We don’t have to have a problem with plastic. We don’t have to start slowly.

The computer has spoken: A supercomputer prediction via MyBettingSites suggests Rangers will be unable to catch reigning champions Celtic for the Scottish title, Heart of Midlothian will secure third place, struggling Dundee United will be relegated and Kilmarnock will need a play-off to avoid dropping back down to the Championship.

Give it a few more games and the predictions will all change again

If he is that bad then how on earth did he get into the Scotland squad??

When did being in the Scotland squad become a measure of a good player?

The Dundee score is bad for Scottish football, another embarrassing result after Motherwell.

However, both could be good for us. It's going to take a while for the Utd team to get over a loss like that, and I could see it affecting a large part of the season. Motherwell haven't made a good appointment either. You promote from within when things have been going well and you want continuity, not when you need a complete change. I can see Motherwell struggling. I think St. Mirren will also be poor. I could see us finishing 10th with Ross County and perhaps. Dundee Utd just above us

I could foresee that Linky. Livingston will be fine, County maybe also. However, the prospect of weekly slugfests and anti football from us and our rivals fills me with apprehension. What happened to anticipation when attending a match? It’s been destroyed by a succession of managerial cowards across the clubs, ours included.

How thin the lines are. Without that last minute winner, its a lost 2 points as we sat back deep and highlights CD's approach to defending a lead. Instead, we all have some glimmer of a hope, we look for positives..... Four straight losses, we fall into the anticipated doom.....fueling our negative expectations.

    Funny old game

The game last season v Livingston epitomised CD’s approach. Scored in three minutes and then defended for 87. It was horrendous to watch. That’s what we did second half v Motherwell. We went from looking reasonably good (take that in context) in the first half to sitting back inviting Motherwell onto us. Disgusting, negative, time wasting  anti football. Surely we can be better than that?
