Saw the bit where they were talking about how it was the England fans that had brought a sense of humour and party atmosphere to the World Cup - try telling that to that kid caught in the fighting last weekend. As for the domestic "party atmosphere": http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/jersey/5137664.stm
Victor
Saw the bit where they were talking about how it was the England fans that had brought a sense of humour and party atmosphere to the World Cup - try telling that to that kid caught in the fighting last weekend. As for the domestic "party atmosphere": http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/jersey/5137664.stm Missed the bit about the kid. What happened? Theyll probably say that Jersey isnt really England. Itll be the fact they are just off Froggy land!! Quite seriously, when you look at what the BBC in particular have been saying, its a blatant Orwellian manipulation of the media to change peoples perceptions of the England supporter. England and the English are great and everybody loves us even more than usual. There is also the cracking of the whip to ensure that all non England supporters from the provences, such as Scotland, will be re-educated and made to toe the line. It stinks of Downing Street orders and is typical of Blairs regime. Its a very very very dangerous route to go down and I think it is really just the start of an anti Scottish campaign by Blair that includes building up the West Lothian question to stop Brown becoming PM. templeofsaints
Missed the bit about the kid. What happened? From the fighting last weekend there was an image used on a lot of non-UK sites of a 4-6yr old German kid on her dads shoulders as he tried to skirt the trouble howling her eyes out. I'm not surprised about the BBC and to be honest they've been a bit more honest about the trouble than the English papers (mind you theidiot that attacked the kid wearing the England top in Embra still seemed to get more attention). But when a "good" party atmosphere involves having riot polis deployed it shows they've still got a long way to go.

He followed it up with something along the lines of "so the fans have done their bit, it's just the players who have let us down." Completely straight face on the guy as well - madness!
