Using the UEFA Cup game as a platform to express their political message. Showing solidarity/support for a people who are being attacked by an aggressive neighbour.

While I agree that politics should be kept out of football grounds, this seems over the top and sets a precedent that could become virtually impossible to police. The flag wasn't bearing any writing on it. It's just a national flag, and it's political just like any other national flag. When Celtic fans fly Irish flags I regard that as a political statement, but would never expect this action. It could even be argued that, in the run-up to an independence referendum, a Scotland flag is a pretty strong political statement too. What if the fan carrying the flag was from Palestine, or we had a player who came from there... their flag still wouldn't be welcome in our stadium? Personally I'd prefer us to go the other way and say that ALL flags, as long as they're not carrying an offensive message, should be welcome and even encouraged. We're not a club who have ever shut out other cultures, races or religions (unlike certain others), and that should be celebrated.

Incidentally, the ultimate irony is that UEFA are a political body yet insist on having their own flag flown at European matches.

Looks like we ended lucky there as we would have had Goodwillie & maybe Craig if the chairman hadn't been so tight. Graham & Lappin may turn out tge better option.

We've had two Euro home games, a game at Dingwall and two full price games against Celtic (very expensive) and Aberdeen and your moaning that 280 went to Motherwell. ****ing hell. Football is expensive and most families have probably been spending their money on kitting their kids for another year at school. Football might be your priority but some people may only be able to afford one game a month, let alone an away game where cost of travel is involved. It's been a very expensive couple of months for Saints fans!

Some mental signings likely to happen today! Falcao to ManU being one, just seen someone on twitter saying that 'them getting Di Maria was like buying a nice hat when you don't have any trousers. But that Falcao is like perching another hat on top of that hat while you're on fire and still don't have any trousers.' I laughed.

I still don't agree. For over 30 years i've watched Saints and if I'd had a pound for every time I've wished someone had been prepared to take a dig at goal and hadn't, i'd be a millionaire.
 
I agree that May tried on a few occaisions to win games on his own but if you don't buy a ticket, you don't win the raffle. Decision making is a thing that comes with age and experience. I dread to think how good May will be in 5 years. It hurts!!

To be fair(this really won't be a popular post but....) if anything May shot too much, I actually think that's what stopped bigger clubs going for him. Would love to see accurate stats on shots attempted to goals scored. He was overly confident at times and shot from anywhere.

This may have skewed people's expectation of when the team would/should shoot.

In fairness he's going to get time playing against decent quality in that league. Really rate him, think he's got a huge future.

We'll he did get to see Ando celebrate first hand in May! :-D
