JamesP Posted April 25, 2012 Report Share Posted April 25, 2012 We all know there can be problems in the relationship between clubs, fans, stewards and police and that, regardless of the result, going to matches often means putting up with inconvenience, frustration and unwelcome behaviour. I am helping to develop a national supporters’ charter that will help to make going to games a better experience and as part of that I want to hear from fans about their experiences. I want to hear about what’s good and bad about going to matches. What you’d like to see more of and what you’d like to ditch. How you expect to be treated and how you expect to treat others. I'm running a series of events around Scotland and I hope you take the opportunity to come along to one and put your views across: Thu 26 April - Ainslie Park, Edinburgh Tue 1 May - Caledonian Stadium, Inverness Thu 3 May - Pittodrie Stadium, Aberdeen Thu 10 May - St. Mirren Park, Paisley Tue 15 May - Tannadice Stadium, Dundee Tue 22 May - Fir Park, Motherwell All events run from 7.30pm to 9pm Just drop me an email to book a spot and so that I know how many are coming: james.proctor @ scottishfa.co.uk (remember to remove the gaps) More info can be found on the Scottish FA website. My concern is that this 'charter' will lead to the sanitisation of football further as a set of 'rules' is put in place as to how spectators should behave. This type of thing will see people removed from stadiums for simply swearing within 500 yards of a child under 12 and suchlike A big part of going to football over the years has been the experiences going to, inside and leaving the ground. These are the stories you tell in years to come. Okay, anything that is unlawful or promotes hatred or bigotry etc must be dealt with and a lot of good could come from your research, but, please, don't go too far. A lot of this is about expectations and how different sections (families, active/vocal fans, disable fans, etc) get along with each other inside a stadium. Perhaps this might be an opportunity to raise the issue of inconsistent stewarding and policing? This seems to be a topic that comes up again and again on here. The relationship between stewards, police, clubs and fans is the critical one and something I want to hear about - good and bad. James, please remove fools like this from football:wink: Well if enough folk suggest it .... It'd be good if a few fans came along and shared their experiences and perspective with me.
