Edstar101
Heading off down to Glentress (near Peebles) for a couple of days mountain biking tomorrow. Anybody been there? Also looking at doing the Hadrians wall cycle over three days in the Spring. Any other good suggestions for day trips / overnighters for excellent mountain biking opportunities? P.S. Road cyclists....take your poncyness somewhere else
jhq
There's a path/route from Blair Atholl to Speyside. Years ago when working in construction, I helped fix a bridge that was probably somewhere between 5-10 miles along the route. I have no idea how long the route would be or what the terrain would be like for the full length of it, but if these first few miles are anything to go by, it ould be fantastic mountain biking terrain with some breathtaking view/scenery. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Heading off down to Glentress (near Peebles) for a couple of days mountain biking tomorrow. fazman1977
Glentress is very highly regarded. There's a number of different tracks for different abilities too.

andy rhodes fancy watch
Spent a couple of weeks cycling from caithness down to inverness in my younger or should I say fitter years . Not on the A9 but along back roads/tracks for the pylon maintenace workers , some of these were very challenging as well as not being on maps ! Stayed in b&bs and hostels and it was brilliant . Went from nice gentle dirt tracks around Forsinard/Kinbrace to more extreme stuff past Brora loch . Good times . Originally we had planned to cycle to Perth but due to a combination of highland hospitality and severe blisters and aches we got the train back from Inverness . Lightweights . myDarlingBeefeater
Glentress is fantastic. Nearby Innerleithen is a bit more hardcore. In the opposite direction Laggan WolfTrax is a great all round centre. Closer to home Pitmedden and Craigvinnean near the Hermitage are good too. Most of the forestry around Perthshire has good fire tracks if you just want to ride without anything too technical. There are a lot of good websites with less well known trails and guides too. Cheers. Just back from Glentress. Did the blue and red routes yesterday and the black today. Sore, bloody and bruised....but feeling magic
Derek Patterson
The World Cup track at Nevis Range is moich. Certainly not for beginners. Reliably informed that Torridon is excellent if you just want singletrack stuff. Edstar101
