Police charged a group of Aberdeen fans who were throwing bottles and rubbish at them near Atletico's Estadio Vicente Calderon just before the match.

Police said several shops, bars and restaurants were damaged. Eleven fans suffered slight injuries.

About 6,000 Aberdeen fans, around half of them without tickets, were in Madrid for the match.

MADRID.- Al menos 11 personas han resultado heridas leves tras una carga de los antidisturbios de la Policía Nacional que tuvieron que intervenir tras iniciarse una pelea entre hinchas del Atlético de Madrid y el Aberdeen en las inmediaciones del estadio Vicente Calderón.

Entre los heridos hay aficionados del equipo español y del escocés. Todos presentaban únicamente contusiones o cortes y fueron dados de alta tras ser atendido por el SAMUR en el mismo lugar de los incidentes.

Los hechos comenzaron en el Paseo de los Melancólicos, donde coincidieron dos grupos de aficionados de ambos equipos cuando se dirigían al partido correspondiente a la tercera jornada de la ronda clasificatoria previa para la Copa de la UEFA.

Los hinchas de ambos equipos comenzaron a pelearse en plena calle y a lanzarse botellas y diversos objetos. En ese momento los antidisturbios que estaban desplegados en las inmediaciones del estadio iniciaron una carga para dispersar la pelea.

Una vez dispersados los hinchas, en los alrededores del estadio se podían ver restos de cristales y contenedores volcados.

Por la tarde, cientos de aficionados escoceses que han venido a Madrid a apoyar al Aberdeen, hicieron 'botellón' en la Puerta de Sol, frente a la sede de la Comunidad de Madrid.

La estatua de Carlos III, que lució una gigante bandera de Escocia, se convirtió en un inesperado escenario desde el que algunos de los aficionados dirigieron la fiesta, y la fuente de la plaza, llena de espuma, sirvió de piscina.

it doesn't mention the flare that was apparently fired into the aberdeen fans I notice. I'm not condoning what has happened (whatever it was) all I've heard is hear say (a friend of a friend who is over there)

have also heard that a female aberdeen fan was raped by a gang of locals on the wednesday night, the AFC's head of security was knocked to the ground in a rush of Aberdeen fans trying to get away from the trouble and a child as you as ten being hit with a baton by spanish police.
