3 players for 2 positions is exactly the same as 6 for 4.
Yes we can play with 1 striker but we could just as easily play 3 central defenders and Craig/Alston wing backs if we really had to.
There's no getting away from it, we have poor depth in striking areas. Brown is happy with 5th. Most of us are. It's just a little frustrating when you see we could easily push for 4th with the way Hearts are at the moment but we just don't have that ambition. Considering the extra cash for finishing 4th and the fact we budget for 10th you'd think we would have something to spend.

Was it not regionalised this season? Sure I read something about it. 
Still half expecting a loan signing tbh, although that's based on absolutely nothing. 
Fwiw it's a bit disappointing to see Dundee signing Ojamma and ICT sign Billy McKay, both would add to our current squad. 

They used to. Teams are going to start refusing to play - a handful already have in the last few years. On the plus side, looking forward to seeing Sevco get hammered by the Uzbekistan fourth place side!

As regards SM it would be worth a phone call as we do not know what Preston's thoughts are on a deal for SM.  It could easily be down to getting game time as opposed to finances.

Preston manager has confirmed May is available for loan. Should we be making a call to see what they expect in return of finances?

Anyone with either pace or power and a basic set of footballing skills is what saints need. Big Tade had pace and power, footballing skills? Not so much.

Yeah, I very much get the vibe that we won the cup in 2014 by chance, we've ridden the wave for a bit, and now it's time to revert back to what we REALLY are, somewhere around the bottom of the premiership, top of the championship level.  I know we aren't ever going to throw money at players to try and compete with bigger clubs with established bigger fan bases, but there are different degrees of risk. £40k on a young talent who could be the next £1m sale is surely little different to signing a 16 year old on £10k a year in the youth system and hoping he breaks through by the age of 20?  Spending £500k on an established striker is another level of risk altogether, as the potential return is finite. 
I mean, where would we be if we HADN'T sold May and O'Halloran?  Where's the next profitable sale coming from?
