The first XI is strong but look at the bench in Luzern. If we need to change a game we've very few options.

    Ok - go to
    www.sbb.ch/en/home.html
Fill in the the boxes on the left hand side
Go through the next process of filling in your name etc - there is a drop down menu - pick no discount
You will then come to a screen which shows various train times (around  your specified time) and the price
A little bit further down on this screen there is a box marked Supersaver - click on this
A number of trains will appear around the time you specified earlier and they will have the discounted price listed next to them
Pick the one you want and repeat for your return journey (do not pick return on the earlier screen as it is a return for the same day only)
Print your tickets and away you go

It appears the only drawback is that if you use these tickets you can only go on that specified train and there are no refunds

Just checked the website for fixture dates, and it has still not been updated. Shite.

Would that not also be the case if we exhumed a corpse and played it upfront?

I wouldn't base my opinion of any player on what Jackie MacNamara thinks of them.

If people want the new Saints strip to come out why don't you volunteer to design, manufacture, market and sell it yourself? It's not too much to ask surely.

Time to stick my head up and  dodge the bullets..

I will try and address some of the points raised so far with facts.

    Firstly , the testimonial committee.

The committee is mostly made up of business men and women. This would seem to be the norm for these things as a wide range of business contacts is required to help generate sponsorship, free services/services at cost etc. There are also a couple of  members who are fans. I am one of those. The way these committees are set up is that a chairman is appointed ( Our chairman is a friend of Andos) and he then approaches others who he believes can add experience and value to the testimonial year. As I said, most are business people. One advantage of this is that they can make all meetings, work at all events etc. People who work for others have difficulties sometimes getting time off ( I know this because I have these difficulties sometimes) . I am not really sure why I was asked but  was very honoured to be asked. This is a long term commitment as we have 6-7 events planned over the year and it is no cakewalk. It is time consuming and hard work.

The first event which took place this passed weekend involved long hours of planning as well as  20 hours work  over the actual event for most of the committee. It was  a great success, but only because of the  support of those that took part, the hard work of the committeee menbers and Ando himself who also spent 20 hours on site and  who made himself available to EVERYONE for photos and chats.

    Now to the match.

Firstly, and this is important. Ando himself is delighted with the opposition.

The actual proccess of  arranging a  testimonial match is far from simple.  For this one, dates  were tricky due to our Euro qualification. Also manager Tommy Wright wanted a competetive match, as it is going to be part of our pre-season. This will be a proper game, not a lark.

Many  hours were spent in negotiation with  quite a few sides, some of which fell apart as soon as we  won the cup because of euro dates. As someone else has mentioned also, the world cup has had an effect. Basically what it meant was that for instance, we could have had Newcastle, but it would have been a kids side. This was the problem pretty much all round. No "big club" was going to send a team of "names" up here and the manager had already stated he wanted a proper  testing game for the team.

So we have Hearts. There are quite a few benefits to playing them, both in terms of Andos testimonial and for the club.

They will bring a decent following which will boost the crowd ( which after all is the whole point) The costs are also far more manageable and we will hopefully get a  proper game of football rather than sitting watching  a bunch of guys pissing about for 90 minutes.

It is what it is and I would ask that we all get right behind  the game and  right behind Ando who , as many have already said, richly deserves this testimonial year.

I hope this has helped  some understand  what is going on and how it goes on. I can tell you, it aint glamourous, can sometimes be  somewhat tedious and is extremely time consuming. We had a meeting last night for instance which meant  everyone present missed the start of the world cup.

    Thanks.

    Ghostie.

I don't really "get" why emergency service personnel should receive preferential pricing on Season tickets.  They're well paid so are able to afford the same as the rest of us.  A ticket to take in a smaller number of games, to allow for them missing games due to shift work, fair enough.

Cuthbert was never given a proper chance at Saints. He's arguably the most technically gifted keeper we've ever had.
