Yep, and if you go back and watch the Saints v Dundee game from 1999 you'll hear that there was racial abuse aimed at Miguel Simao every time he touched the ball.

However - with apologies for the cliche - two wrongs don't make a right. I don't want to hear footballers being subjected to personal abuse at matches. We can't say "the other team's fans have done it (or done it worse), so it's OK for us to do it". And we can't say "that's just the way football fans are." We are the fans. If we want to change these things, it's up to all of us collectively to change them.

For me, the stuff being aimed at Leigh Griffiths during that match was unacceptable. And it's not the only unacceptable thing I've heard from Saints fans at matches. I'd like for us to be much better than this.

I was disgusted at Pittodrie some seasons back when a small number of our fans were singing about Jamie Langfield's wife. That was vile.

As for abuse directed towards Alan Main or Leigh Griffiths, that's out of order, whether 1999 or 2021. We take one aspect of a person's character, magnify it out of all proportion and write them off accordingly. It's hardly civilised and can't be written off as banter or merited.

48 years you've won *%€$ all. Double cup winners, you'll never sing that. That's good stuff. The personal abuse isn't. I'd also like us to be much better than this.

Phone ticket office, pay for ticket(s) and they will arrange to meet you outside of stadium to hand over ticket on Sunday before kick off.

I wonder how many other clubs, or should I say SLO’s, go to such lengths to help fans in this way. Much appreciated as when life gets in the way you can’t always organise things the way you’d like. Bev has come to the rescue for us many times.

Well he grabbed at the chance of playing international football even if it wasn't for his home nation

Smart move? Would he ever have been picked by dinosaurland? Maybe he was advised that his earnings potential would rise significantly.

Perhaps those apportioning blame for the deal should not only look at the Chairman's side of the table but at those across from him who benefited from the move.

Thought that myself at the time but no one would be brave enough to criticise the player. We’d all do the same given the choice.

It was a very strange affair. However, I think the club realised that, give the ticketing fiasco, tickets will have been purchased by away fans. The club had initially stated the North Stand was for away fans, then retracted that statement, but the ticketing website was still labelling the North Stand as 'away'. It's a shame you guys couldn't wear your colours, and it was a fiasco, however I'm glad you made it. :)

I have never visited Perth, in all honesty, let alone your ground. However, I fancy travelling up this season - if you sell us tickets, that is.

You’ll be welcome, but not if you support Galatasaray :)

I thought it could have gone either way today, and a draw was a fair result. Saying that, I'm fuming that McCarthy's goal was erroneously ruled offside, but thankful Middleton's strike crashed against the bar.

Credit to your supporters, btw! Although the game was officially home supporters only, it was clear from who and when they applauded that they were Perth Saints. That was a terrible decision not to give you an allocation, and as a member of SMISA (and therefore technically part-owner) I would like to offer an apology and I will raise it with the club, along with a list of other things.

Given you played in Europe on Thursday, I think you look a decent side. I think a place in the top six might be more difficult to come by this season, though.

First time we’ve not worn our club’s colours to a match. Only saw one St Johnstone top among the fans. Weird. We wore our old Juventus tops. Stewards asked us home or away, and to please be honest. I asked why they were asking as there weren’t meant to be any away fans, when did it change, what happened, etc. Only when I was sure we’d get in did I admit our true leanings. How were they meant to enforce that anyway with a general sale of tickets. It’s not as if it was like us v Galatasaray. St Mirren seem to have lost it, whatever it is.

“Weekly newsletter”? I knew The Courier was stuck in the dark ages, but bloody hell!!

It’s a newsletter. It’s weekly. Why the disdain? Have you listened to their podcast or read their pieces on Saints this last while? It’s worth a go. Better than lots of other media with their Glasgow bias.

  8. I’ve signed up for this today. Usually good material from them. Their podcast is also a good listen - all football. Dogger Saints is good but a bit much non-football chat for my liking, but then I’m not in my 20’s or 30’s any more, so tales of nights out or other life experiences don’t interest me. Sorry Sam and Danny no offence intended. Dogger is a good listen too. :)

If the above come to fruition this will be his last season

Good for him, and why not. Good opportunity

If this was the case they should let us know they tried and failed my reading is they did not as there was silence.  I can see the replies

the club keep the club business private

but the fans are the club.

I strongly disagree. We do not need to know, nor have we any right to. Discretion and confidentiality must be preserved.

    From press release:

Goalkeeper Craig Hepburn and midfielder Bailey Pert have both signed their first professional contracts, keeping them at the Club until June 2023.

Centre back Liam Parker, midfielder Spencer Moreland and forward Taylor Steven have also signed their first professional contracts, keeping them at the Club until June 2022.

One of them is my next door neighbour. He has a younger brother who is also with our youth setup.

I see some businesses are buying season tickets and 'gifting' them to folk who otherwise not be able to afford them. This is an incredible gesture.

Maybe an idea is for the club to get involved too. Could the club maybe donate some season tickets to local foodbanks or even digital codes for individual games?

Also, an idea could be to sell 'corporate' season tickets. So say at a % discount, a small business can buy a season ticket (individual codes per game) and can then either use that for clients or as part of protion etc. For example, but a new carpet from x company and get 3 free saints games. Should be easy enough to do in a digital age.

I can see the corporate ST discount idea not going down well with some. I also think some might not like having all these extra ST holders. Folk are funny.

Yeah, it makes sense for Gordon to be out. It would be extremely bad luck for a further three players (Clark, McCann and O'Halloran) to have picked up injuries in the last three days though. That's why I suspect Covid has maybe played its part again. Hopefully not.

Calm down. You sound like Randoom. Get a grip ;P
