Watched it on the bbc with the caption... "St Johnstone strike late in the game to claim a narrow Scottish Premier League win over Hearts at McDiarmid Park."

What?

I saw this too.

There really are some lazy gits in the media.

Slightly different, but when watching Sportscene last night did anyone else notice that when Killie scored the score at the top became "Kil 3 - Utd 4" and stayed that way till United equlaised? Some cracking goals in that game, and a soft pen!

One paper I read had McDonald down in the scorer section with a double bu the actual match report they printed said moon scored it. So someone got the scorer wrong and hence why sky sports news, and most other media outlets, had it wrong.

It was exactly the same on BBC.

And noone could decide whether it was Ando or Grainger that deflected their 3rd in. Match reports saying Grainger and scorers lists saying "Anderson (og)"

The reason a mistake such as the Mooner one happens is because score updates, crowds, bookings and sendings off are all collected by the Press Association who have a reporter at each and every game. They phone the detail in as and when it happens and the Press Association then distribute it to all the media sources, such as Sky, BBC and the written press. So if the one person miss-identifies a player than all the media will have it wrong in their results sections.
