pezza70
Keeping with the theme of the best OG I was thinking what is the best near miss you have seen My vote has to be for Paddy Connolly's effort against the paisley pandas, his shoe laces were over the line when he attempted to put it in the old onion bag
HertsSaintee
Paul Sheerin's howler at the death against the Pars at EEP earlier this season was pretty spectacular. Definitely one of those "it was easier to score" moments. Herts
bleacher
I'd second Connolly's miss. All he had to do was let the ball hit off him and it would have bounced in. Instead he managed to direct the ball straight up in the air and into the arms of Ludo Roy.

bleacher
one i wont forget was a cup game v killie 92/93 i think, by tommy burns. Is that the one where he was clean through on goal lobbed Andy Rhodes (I think) and the ball bounced over the bar? If so, it was a classic! Killie dominated that game, but still lost. ryangordon86
Its a toss up for me between Paddy Connolly's miss or Sheerin's miss against the Pars right at the death earlier this season
Guest Nairn Saint
Various Andy Brannigan "efforts". He could control a ball further than most of his team mates could kick it.
ancientsaint
Surely GORANS attempted clearance in the challenge cup final must be considered !

He lobbed the keeper, the ball was heading towards the back of the net and Miguel headed for the corner to celebrate. Somehow though a Killie defender (Lauchlan?) appeared out of nowhere to clear the ball from under the bar. Great recovery.
Ronaldo
It's a Scotland couple of misses - 1. Billy Bremner to win against Brazil (seen it on TV live); 2. Maurice Johnston against Brazil 1990 had the whole goal to ai, at and hit the bar.
soulfulsaint
one i wont forget was a cup game v killie 92/93 i think, by tommy burns. Killie fans celebrating a certain goal as it bounced over the bar was a highlight

Wasn't that the penultimate game of the season, before we qualified for Europe? Defeat would have meant we couldn't have qualified. There was a terrific Saints crowd through that day. A near miss that always comes to mind for me is the one at Ibrox when we outplayed them for ages, then Connolly (I think) rounded the keeper and hit it towards the open goal, only for Colin Hendry to dive and keep it out with his hand. John O'Neil(?) then missed the penalty and Rangers went up the other end and scored (Porrini?) to win 1-0. I've got a feeling it might have been a Boxing Day game.
