taylorboy69
Have you seen the boy play? Yes, seen him loads this season and I cannot see any reason why he would not be able to handle being pitched into the side at this current time. He has every attribute required to succeed in this game at a very high level. Ok, yes, it would be a big jump for him from U17's to first team, but remember, its the same game he would be playing IE trying to put that ball in the net. This guy clearly knows his way to goal, confidence must be sky high so why not risk it??????? It could be master stroke that takes us to the finishing line. Nothing ventured, nothing gained IMO
taylorboy69
Taylorboy has been bangin on bout this for months now, i know he's seen him a fair bit at youth level and speaks very very highly of him, i'm sure Del will promote him to regular first team squad when he sees fit but i remember a young Keigan Parker making a formidable impact at much the same age. Exactly mate, whats the harm in giving him a bench place on saturday and then giving him 20 mins to see what he can do. I think our problem with the strikers is they are too predictable. Everyone knows how to defend against them. This boy will be unknown to any defenders and that could give us just a slight edge.
taylorboy69
i think he wouldnt bring much to us in the first team, didnt look much in the reserves when i last seen him it would be criminal to put him ahead of sammy jacko and peaso I need to disgree mate, i think these guys have plenty chances to stake a claim (except maybe peaso). Sammy to me does not have the heart for this battle that we find ourselves in. Has all the attributes and really should be standing out at this level. Why is he not?? Jacko, this season is a write off for the wee man. You tend to find if you aint fit at the start of a season, you are never fit. Put it down to experience for him and let him concentrate on being fit for season 2009/10. Peaso, well, obviously something going on with him and del otherwise im sure he would have been in recently. 101 Saint
He's gotta show something in reserve games first. Interesting to see if he gets a game the morn.

I tend to agree but you got to admit anything is worth a shot. what if he scores 2morrow??????? woudl that change your opinion??

Yeah, you are probably right mate but it was just a suggestion to see what folks views are. My view is, if you are good enough, you are old enough. Think sammy has had plenty chances of late and not done hellish much. Ive been trying to find a post i made back in October that said we were short of another striker. I was laughed of the forum. I wonder now if peoples views have changed?
saintj
i completely agree that if you are good enough your are old enough sammy comes off the bench alot and i think he has showed us his ability and needs a run in the team from the start if reynolds can prove he can do the business in the reserves and is having good performances then he should get his shot so long as the 1st team players arent doing it for us
R.B.B:- Adz
I have to agree! Guys like Sammy and Jacko can only be judged when they have had a run in the team! Very difficult to make an impact for 20 minutes off the bench. Sammy has showed plenty of what we need and Jacko showed plenty against Rangers so why not drop the misfiring Savo and Homer(who i am big fans of) and start either Sammy or Jackson or both. What the hell do we have to lose, we have only scored four goals in the last eight games so how can Del possibly justify sticking with the same strikeforce??? GeorgetheSaint
Why is Savo "misfiring"?? Played for 40 mins yesterday, in my opinion well, and the game before that he played in he scored the winner. So going 40 mins without a goal equals misfiring?? He's probably averaging over a goal every 2 games played in. Have to laugh at some quotes!!
R.B.B:- Adz
Savo is in my opinion in our top 3 players. The guy is class and his workrate is unbelievable. All im saying is that his partnership with Homer has gone stale and with him picking up a knock its time to give him a rest and give Jacko or Sammy a run in the team. Ramagamma
Reynolds is an exciting prospect, based on the amount of goals he is scoring at youth level, but I think to throw him into the team right now would be madness. The lad is only 17 for goodness sake. Warren Feeney once scored 54 goals in a season at youth level, doesn't mean I'd want him in our team to relieve the strike problem. CynicalSaintee
I think we should give him a sub appearance at some point, at least. Look what Mooner did last season against Clyde in one of his first starts for us.
henry hall
I have seen all of the 17s games this season except Montrose away, and I rate young Reynolds as one of the best forwards I have seen in a long time. He is exceptional at holding the ball up and he has the ability to hang in the air for flick ons to his strike partner. He also has pace For all his goals he could brush up a wee bit on his finishing, tending to score the spectacular but miss the obvious, but in my opinion, granted normal luck in running, the lad has the ability to go all the way. His strike partner too, so often the unsung hero Stevie May, is a really good foil for him. He is strong and quick too. Another to watch Thats the first post over:laugh:

saint in exile
If you`re good enough your good enough, whats age got to do with it?Give him a chance i say,he`s not going to do any worse than the strikers we have just now. Jamie_Beatson
Haven't seen him play, but I certainly think it is worth giving him a shot on the bench to at least introduce him to the matchday squad and maybe give him a few minutes here and there. But Del is unlikely to change things up massively when every game is important as they are just now!

Ronaldo
If you`re good enough your good enough, whats age got to do with it?. Just to note, Pele played in the 1958 World Cup Final at 17 and I'm sure McCoist played for us at 16/17, not sure about JC. They were exceptional though. Henry Hall's first post reminds me that Jim Pearson played for Saints around the same age as Reynolds. In fact Henry Hall was his gym teacher at school if I remember right. I saw Pearson play for Scottish Schoolboys against Wales at Muirton when he was at best 17. Any of the crazy old Saints confirm details?
