Think I may just head back down the A9 myself tomorrow to cure the football hangover from last night. I'm sure we'll get a look at the boy Brown and the Easton twins as well, among others. I just hope they've got squad numbers and names on their backs so I know who's who.

As a neutral let me first say it was an absolute privilege to be there tonight to experience that with you all.  I could tell just from the sizable crowd how much it really meant to them all.  Drove a 190 mile round trip on a spur of the moment urge to watch history in the making tonight and it was worth every effeing penny.  25 quid at the turnstile with the missus and I don't grudge it one bit, absolute value for money .  Hopefully this gives the Saints a little financial boost and you guys can go on and upwards.

Met some tremendous fans tonight and thought the Rosenberg fans were great aswell, the atmosphere was superb and I just hope that the FC Minsk is just as thrilling.

All the best, I will certainly be trying to make a few more Saints games this year.

If there is the slightest suggestion that this rumour of 6,000 Hearts' fans coming to McD is likely to be true then Tayside's finest will insist the game be made all ticket.  We should then give them the North Stand, the North end of the West Stand and say 500 tickets for family groups in the Ormond Stand.  If we can sell that lot we will be doing well and I would not jump through any more hoops for Hearts.  If this game really does become "hot" then surely we can pretty well fill the rest of the ground with Saintees especially as hospitality packages should sell well.

Personally, I would put the likely crowd at around 7,000 unless something sensational happens like Tynecastle being sold off as a separate item from the Football Club.

Following Jean-Marc Bosman's success at bringing about the re-writing of the football transfer rules, we now refer to an out of contract transfer as a "Bosman".

I wonder if, in years to come, when some little jug eared scrotum fails to honour a PCA he'll be referred to as a "Bawsack"?

==== Don't give them any ideas. They might claim he has died and then will be risen again. DA loves that stuff.

Can't say I ever particularly warmed to Lomas. To me he always seemed like a bit of an odd character - often saying what felt like the wrong things, getting involved in various controversies and not really fulfilling the brief of being a people person who would be able to sell the club to the local community.

But - and it's a massive 'but' - his achievements with Saints (albeit from a strong starting point) have been phenomenal. To get this small club into Europe in two consecutive seasons, and also manage a third place finish, is borderline miraculous. He also seemed to be able to get the players really, really up for playing for him: rarely have I seen a Saints team so hungry and so driven to push each other over the finish line. The players we have at the moment are nowhere near as gifted as the 98/99 UEFA Cup team, yet they've earned themselves an equal footing in the club history books through sheer spirit. Lomas deserves a huge amount of credit for that (and I think Wright does too, which is why I hope he's going to stay).

So thanks Steve Lomas - I think it's a helluva difficult job you've accepted, but I hope it proves to be a good decision.

Sad to see him go...liked the way he had a never say die attitude! Feel he still had a job to do. If the rumours are correct & TW is the manager? Will he have the same connections? This is my only worry...Saints did well with the likes if Abeid, as much as it is annoying to have on loan players, at least SL attracted good quality. Not like the usual end of career moves we have had in the past
Good Luck Mr Lomas! Well Done!!

I for one will be disappointed to see SL go if indeed he does go as after a shaky start thought he did an OK job. Think the key here is to act quickly re new appointment and perhaps look to involve Callum as player/coach if Wright goes too for some continuity, plenty of contracts still to be sorted. Whoever is appointed need to get behind them and the club frim day one.

So many times Saints have gone into a big game (frequently against Motherwell) and completely bottled it. Not yesterday though - we were absolutely superb. We played some fantastic stuff and to a man we were tremendous. I thought 2-0 flattered Motherwell and we probably should have scored 3 or 4. Great day to be a Saints fan and now I'd like more than anything else to see these players sign on the dotted line.
