Often players make a reaction when they've stuffed up. Goalies are especially prone to mental "burn out". They have little to do for the majority of a game, then need to switch when called on. It's a tough gig. You need to be mentally tough. Look at England! Their goalies are like gelatine in a microwave. You need to be tough.

Second half performance best in a long time. Could and should have won comfortably but team need to take confidence and play with same grit, determination and skill going forward.
only negative for me was Xander - kicking was dire in first half and he should be made to watch the second goal until he realises that a goalkeeper must own his six yard box.
McCann is growing by the game and thought Spoony and OHalloran were first class. Steve May - this is what he does - it's just taken a wee while for the confidence to return; brilliant performance.
just hope TW keeps the formation and encourages the high energy approach. Hind sight wonderful thing but if he'd had some he wouldn't have subbed  May - though I understand why he did it !!

Abernethy - maybe a change of strategy next time - the fast start was good but running out of puff and running up the white flag indicates some warm weather, high altitude training might be beneficial :). sixties and Hoodlum seem to be in a wee world of their own ! 541 - you sure gave me a scare or two !
Looking forward to next season, going off for some warm weather training, beer and ouzo in preparation for a three in a row attempt!.

A very good example of how to throw away three points. irrespective of the rights or wrongs of the penalty decision - it stemmed from another piece of inept play by Wotherspoon Second goal was a shocker - leave a midfielder unmarked 30 yards from goal with as much time as he liked to pick a pass; this with a one man advantage - fantastic. Witherspoon adds nothing defensively and flatters to deceive going forward - high time Alston / Swanson given an opportunity. Can anyone explain why TW pulled Kennedy - for me the only real creative player - bizarre.
From feeling quite confident at half time to totally deflated and pissed off at full time; the joys of being a Saints supporter!

Bit of a consensus developing here. Midfield clearly the major issue. After a bright start  Aberdenn took command of midfield and there was only gong to be one outcome. Spoony contributed bugger all ( not for the first time), Craig and Goss not far behind. Muzz hard working as ever but not creative. TW brings on Swanson whose sole contribution was giving the ball away on the half way line which led directly to there second goal. Alstonleft sitting on the bench - what has he done to deny him the chance to fix a misfiring midfield? He should start on Wednesday with Craig the holding player, Davidson or Callaghan and MOH if fit. get Kennedy and Watt together up front and put a rocket up Fosters arse or drop him. 
Thought Kerr was head and shoulders above any player on the park - had the "superstar" Cosgrove in his pocket. As much as Joe has been a solid citizen don't think he will be a catastrophic loss.
Sort it out Tommy.

Interesting thread this. Think there is a consensus that priority is signing up our top performers on longer deals and to rapidly exit Scougall etc. I reckon if there is funds available after all of this a cheeky wee loan bid for Scott Allan or someone similar would give us another dimension.

Forget a taxi - the Broons should be carrying Tommy up the High Street in a sedan chair!!

Just found a photo of John and myself with the Greek Saintee (owned the bar) outside Johns local in Athens. Great memory!

Such sad news. Myself and my wife had the pleasure of meeting up with John and his good lady in Athens shortly after the cup final. We had never met but arranged to meet up via WAP. John was unmistakable in his St Johnstone shirt as he walked towards us in Athens Airport. He quickly whisked us to his local where we met his wife and a number of his expat pals who were all converted Saintees - as was the Greek owner of the bar! After a few beers and onwards to his local taverna where  yet more locals and converted Saintees appeared. I had brought a couple of cup winners tee shirts as  gifts and he was over the moon! After great food and numerous tsiporos, great chat about Saints, Perth and his pals and adversaries on WAP it was back to the airport with a fuzzy head for an onward flight. Great hospitality, great chat, great memories and a great guy.
Condolences to his family and friends at their sudden sad loss.
