1st of all ,,unlucky last night ..i did watch the game and in my opinion you just didnt quite cut the mustard in the 2nd half after a good 1st half display..
i have been reading this thread from the start as im sure many other millers have ,,i havnt come to have a dig ,although some of the comments deserve it
for what its worth i cant see may coming to us now other clubs are involved,,unless ofcourse the appcepted bid and reported talks between player and us are genuine and the player himself likes what is on offer
yes there are bigger clubs some even MASSIVE (in thier own words) tabling a bid
i dont pretend to know much about your league..but mays goals do tend to speak for themself ,,some of the comments on here about going straigh back down and fighting a relegation battle all season are quite pathetic really ,,its strange how both time we have gone up we have had the same old negative vibe each time only to gain back to back promtions ,,last time staying in championship for 4 years ...we have a much better squad this time around and i feel very confident that we will beat the drop comfortably ..even the bookies have 4 teams below us
 
what ever happens to mr may ,,i hope he goes on to greater things in the epl and you can all be proud of him even more than you already show to be

Almost as disgusting as your (and others) pathetic attitude towards Rotherham fans on here. Cebuman's post about the need to balance books against a backdrop of low attendances is perfectly reasonable.
 
A player (or any other goods for that matter) is "worth" whatever others are willing to pay. I wish we could get more than ￡800,000 for Stevie May but the reality appears to be that's about as much as anyone is willing to offer. We cannot afford to take the risk of turning that down when we might lose him for significantly less.  I do agree that I thought May would end up with a bigger club, and he probably still will in a few year's time, but the sad reality is that we have to take what's on the table. 

I'll pay* him into the loft a couple o times a month as long as i get a few of his cast offs.






*By pay i mean cajole Craig Fraser into guest admission .

We usually start our "are we on tele or radio" debate about 48 hours before the match. There will be lots of references to obscure illegal threads, and some very creative swearing about the feckin BBC, who would rather cover a Rangers (RIP) coffee morning than a game involving our national cup winners. You'll enjoy it - it's often better than the game.  

Good post, I was more or less resigned to the fact that we'd just accept anything around the £1m mark. When you think about how financially beneficial it could be to keep him though, it does seem short sighted. 

5 years ago he would be at Rangers by now awaiting a tribunal to award St Johnstone 700k.

I think you could argue that we've effectively brought in 2 new players. I know we've not signed them but neither Caddis or Brown had a great deal of involvement last year. 
 
Both young, hard working and based on their performances against Luzern, they have as much to offer as any player we would realistically bring in for a transfer fee.

Our highest ever finish will not be first.  Therefore there will be no huge financial benefit to the club.  We've finished 3rd before.  We could finish 2nd but that would only bring in an extra 80k or so.  If a club like Celtic are reducing the wage bill etc, then other clubs will be taking note of this and pretty much following suit.  The chairman has stated his position re new signings - time to accept it and move on.

It was a really enjoyable tie and not just because of the result. FCL have a great team, unbelievable fans and class in abundance .

Ditto the above.  Technically the best side I've watched at McDiarmid Park in 30+ years of watching Saints.  Pity for you guys you faced us and not Celtic in the Champion's League or you'd have sailed through
 
Brilliant away support, and I hope the incidents involving one bawbag in Perth and one in Lucerne won't affect your opinion of our club.

I think we're incredibly lucky to get away without a fine. The circumstances aren't really that different to DDU and their fans will quite rightly feel hard done to.
 
As delighted as I am that we're not out £5k, my concern is that a few clowns will now think we're untouchable and won't think twice about going on in another Europa league match. We won't get away with it again.

I think you are having an argument with yourself here John, nobody is really getting at the fans that spilled out onto the touchline to celebrate with the players after the last penalty kick.  As you say these things happen and in the grand scale of things are generally not that big a deal aslong as the Stewarts and Police act quickly to get everybody back within the stand.
 
But what did have the potential to cause problems was the stupidity of a handful (4 or 5 maximum) of individuals who ignored the celebrations with the players and made a bee-line straight for the Luzern fans in the Main Stand. 
 
Whilst I agree that it probably has been blown out of proportion a touch on here, I still think the actions of this minority should be highlighted and denounced as unnacceptable behaviour.
