Kaylor88
Most stupid ban ever, imagine harming a teams title hopes because someone swore!? What about when Ashley Cole shot someone, or Balotelli throwing darts at folk. Players swear all the time, maybe not to the camera, but surely thats less harmful to football than diving or cheating which only recieves a yellow card. Couldn't agree more, don't particularly like him as a person but this just stinks of the FA teaching Man U a lesson. What about Carraghers lunge at Nani, N'zonzi's two footed challenge at the weekend. Which would you rather ban people for, (over)reacting stupidly to a goal or deliberately trying to injure an opponent. Ridiculous decision by the FA, will they be banning everyone that is caught swearing now? Doesn't seem that long ago that there was a ref caught telling a player to fcuk off or something similar. I don't condone what Roone did and believe he should be punished for it - but there is no way a ban is justified for this. A fine would have been much more appropriate. sleepless
yep, it's unfortunate that it happened just at the time they resurrected (yet again) their pointless, spineless "Respect" campaign. If they had the guts, they could sort out all the bad behaviour easily - just follow rugby's lead. Sin bins, free kicks moved forward for every infringement etc. But they just bang on about "showing respect" and poor Rooney (t*** though he undoubtedly is) was just unfortunate with his timing on this occasion. I agree Rooney gets banned for a wee swear word into the camera but a few weeks ago he blatantly elbows someone in the face during a game and it gets swept under the carpet. Obviously swearing is worse than assault.

mainstand
The only thing he did different form dozens of other players on Saturday was that he did it into a camera. They have set a precedent now and they need to follow it through with all players.
1884
Things are getting silly now. At the Edinburgh derby on Sunday both teams had a player booked simply for celebrating their respective goals. When is common sense going to prevail? Saline Saint
Rooney plays for one of the biggest clubs in the world he has a life style most folk could only dream of so why does he celebrate a hat trick with such hatred and anger in his face. Its a shame that a young guy who has so much does not appear to be happy in the professional part of his life possibly has issues that impact on his social skills. As for him being banned its all about actions and consequences and in this case those consequences may impact on Man utd. Ronaldo
I think Rooney is great and would rather watch him any day than the f'n royal wedding but I blame his parents for calling him Wayne, typical 80's shit. Ronnie Rooney or Tommy Rooney or Sergei Rooney or Oliver Reed Rooney or Mickey Rooney would be fine though.
