Shrunk in size but made massive gains in price, 48p to 60p, a miserly 25% increase:mad:

Think they made a mistake not explaining this in the paper, but to be fair to them they new paper has far more pages (min 64 tabloid compared to 24 broadsheet - around 33% more when you take the new shape into consideration), and they've also invested in extra reporters to up the quality and quantity. Same goes for the Evening Telegraph - which is now 40 pages every day, up from 32, with new staff also taken on.

the courier is a lot better now although a bit pricey.

as for the evening telegraph last i looked they had at least 4 pages covering dundee fc and dundee united with not a lot of space for much else sportswise.must be struggling then.the 'tully' is a waste of time.

Day 1 resulted in a very large number of papers being binned due to a cock up with the print resulting in a large chunk of page 2 being illegible, day 2 more printing problems resulting in a loss of local news for many areas and very late delivery to many distributors - did they manage today without faults?

Don't buy the mistake bit Jamie as DC Thompson have been known for a long time, along with most publishers, to cover price increases with a tiny 1 paragraph notice hidden in the bottom corner of a page. Recent classic was the Sunday Post announcement that they were no longer producing their monthly magazine along with their latest price increase was a very small snippet totally missed by most of my regular customers.

Apparently the new printers broke down on Sunday night meaning everyone got the first edition rather than the local editions. They think they have resolved that issue now.

Tranmere - I don't mean they made a mistake and forgot to put it in or anything, I'm saying it was an error of judgement not to give a proper explanation - one that would have been more than understandable I would have though!

slf - I can confirm that I am not one of DC Thomson's new staff, amid allegations of tapping up and other devious manouevres I turned down an approach to become a colleague of dubious individuals such as the forum's very own Miguel Simao
