It's disgraceful the way Davidson has treated Vertainen.

Whatever way you look at it, a 2 year deal for a 35 year old is pretty shocking.

More practice for the physio department. Bryson all last season and Considine for the next two.

2 year deal for Considine, who's 35 and hasn't completed a game of football without injury since August.
    Outstanding stuff.

Considine is 35, hasn't finished a match since last August, rejected Aberdeens contract offer which would put him amongst our highest earners, and broke down 45 minutes into his first match since recovering from injury.
Absolutely no idea what the plan is here. He'll be signing as first choice but is a cripple.

Players we have offered contracts as well should be put on a strict deadline.  I.e Friday then its pulled and we move on.  To often we let this drag on and agents tout about playing one off against the other leaving us in the middle

I'd be interested to know how much the club might save in the long term if they were to properly invest in a better quality hybrid or artificial surface.
They seem to go through this every year or two with the pitch and it rarely seems to make much of a difference.

I am pleased to see he has his priorities right. Any manager worth his salt after our season would to be build a team (early) for next season.
May be he is not aware of the old sayings "The early bird catches the worm" or "He who hesitates is lost" or is it last

Drey Wright is the absolute king of looking good with zero end product.
It's almost impossible to replace the impact Rooney made but to go from that to absolutely nothing is a miserable thought.

Brown was very impressive and he nullified the right wing threat. Stevie covered a lot of ground after his goal. Difficult to choose MoM but Brown shades it for me.
We were totally outplayed in the first half so well done Saints and how might have gone if Middleton hadn’t torn something.

Whole coaching team should collect their things tonight no matter what the result is. At every single point we have had a chance to dig ourselves out we've blown it.
Team is a reflection of their lack of ability.

Oh come on, that makes no logical sense and I'm sure you know that.

If Davidson was in a Tommy Wright situation and had not been permitted to sign any players, then I'd accept that his hands have been tied by his budget. But he has signed 19 (nineteen!!) new players during this one season, and four of them have been strikers. That sort of backing from the board is pretty much unprecedented as far as I can remember. The playing budget has been used up because he used it up. You can see that, right? He's had all year. He's had plenty of budget. So, again, why has he not signed someone better?

We have had a staggering 41 players play or appear on the bench for us this season.
Four have never got on from the bench, one of those a Davidson signing:
Ross Sinclair unused sub 9 Jordan Northcott unused sub 9  Sam Denham unused sub 4 Jahmal Hector-Ingram unused 4 Of the 41 players Davidson has signed 21:
John Mahon, Theo Bair, Melker Hallberg, Nadic Ciftci, James Brown, Dan Cleary, Ali Crawford, Cammy MacPherson, Tony Gallacher, Eetu Vertainen, Glenn Middleton, Tom Sang, Hayden Muller, Lars Dendoncker, Reece Devine, Jacob Butterfield, Viv Solomon-Otabor, Efe Ambrose, Jahmal Hector-Ingram, Craig Bryson, Charlie Gilmour.
How can you possibly, unless you are on the wind up, say that Davidson is " doing the best with a bad bunch" he has bought the majority of players who are at the club today. He created this bad bunch - he is responsible. Tommy Wright never once had a squad the size of the one this season, I am hard stretched to think of any Saints manager having so many players at his disposal. Any using up of the player budget was done by Davidson - not by anyone else.

All bloody season we have not put together two 45mins. Mostly it had been a good first half that sees us in the game or leading.
Naively at the start I put this down to fatigue and fitness, then nerves. It I think has finally dawned on me! It's neither! it is the manager trying to settle in, pulling the team back to settle for the draw or try and protect a slim lead.
Last night the team smelt blood and wanted to put the tie beyond ICT, totally at odds with what the manager then wanted to do. He then blames them for not following instructions. No wonder they can see what it will lead to and that just puts a nervousness through the lot of them. It feels like they may like the manager and want to do well bit they certainly don't trust him.

If Davidson wanted better players he shouldve signed them before August.
He's the best backed manager in 20+ years. Staff hired to help him identify players and more money to spend than anyone since Totten. He had the final say on who signed.

At around 60-65 minutes it was obvious we'd run out of steam and Caley were coming back into the game. Rooney in particular was looking really sluggish, wasn't keeping up with play and was wandering out of position. We could have got back onto the front foot by bringing Sang on for Rooney and possibly also hitting them with O'Halloran for Middleton. I really believe that if we'd made that change and brought on those two pacy, attack-minded players, ICT would have really struggled to cope with it and we could have gone for the jugular and killed the tie off.
Instead, Callum reverts to type, brings on two of our slowest players, and actually helps ICT to continue to gain the momentum they were already in the process of gaining. This overly-cautious approach is what has been killing us all season. It's exactly the same approach that saw Eetu scapegoated for making one mistake (which wasn't even all that bad a mistake) all those months ago. No one's allowed to show any flair. No one's allowed to try to play football. Davidson's one and only ethos is to stop the opposition scoring at all costs, and then he has no clue what to do when that doesn't work. Billy Dodds isn't the greatest manager in the world but he 100% showed Davidson up by actually changing a game in his team's favour by recognising what wasn't working and making the right alterations to fix it.
Even if we win on Monday, Davidson should be sacked. And if we do win I'm really, really hoping we don't see people invading the pitch and acting like we've won a Cup, when all we'll really have done is stay up by the skin of our teeth after one huge avoidable shambles of a season. It'll just validate the manager's whole "staying up will be as big as winning the double" bollocks, and it'll make the board think we're actually happy.

I think both CD and the HOR shoulder this to be honest. It feels like little to no actual homework was done on these guys barring a quick hilight reel, some 'monyball' spreadsheet and a quick look at football manager....he then sees them in the flesh and there is major work to do on them or they just don't fit at all.
We have paid good money for these guys, did anyone actually see them in the flesh regulary, speak to folk around the game etc etc. We basically bought cars from autotrader sight unseen.

Someone (sorry, can't remember who it was) said on here a few weeks back that the fans might actually be keeping Davidson in a job because they've supported the team so well this season and there's been so little sign of unrest, and I have to say I'm coming round to agreeing with that.
The support this season has been sensational but surely that has to be close to breaking point now. Last night it felt like there was a real "last straw" atmosphere when the equaliser went in, and I do wonder if what we actually need at this stage is for the fans to start vocally showing the board how they feel.
This isn't a criticism of the support, by the way. I actually feel really proud of the way the crowd has continued to support the team through a horrendous season, particularly the FCU section who keep coming to these games in numbers and generating the sort of atmosphere that McDiarmid Park has generally always lacked. I don't think any other club in the Premiership would still have this kind of support at this stage of such a crap season. But are we making it too easy for the board to carry on plodding along with Davidson in charge?

I ve been firmly in the Callum out camp since Kelty but having been there last night, the way we became a total shambles in a game we should have had won, the way the players lost their heads in the last few mins, is this all down to Callum ?
I ve had a season ticket since Muirton days, first season ticket was last year at Muirton, go to a fair amount of away games as well and I have never felt so in the dark about what is going on at my club. There are guys there or have just left ( Grieve and Boyd ) who I have no idea what they do or even what they look like.
We get virtually no news from the club at all, players who don’t play for months who I have no idea if injured or just out of favour.

if the chairman isn’t going to make a statement of any kind because he s given that role over, surely that new person needs to ?

What I really don’t understand is the boards lack of action on the money that’s been spent, Callum’s been the best backed manager by them in last 20 years and it appears he s just wasted the money, they ve allowed players to be bought who he s never used. I can’t get my head around this, I read people saying they aren’t his players, he didn’t want them, that seems even more bizarre, why on earth would a football team buy players the manager doesn’t want, that makes no sense.
I would really like someone to explain the shit show that appears to have gone on but just like Callum will probably still be here next year regardless, I doubt I ll ever know what’s gone on.

Dodds is getting praise for his change of shape and subs but he did that at half time. We were still in charge of the game and making chances until Davidson's tactical changes. Davidson looking at his coaching manual again. Get a lead and shut up shop.
How many times has Davidson's tactical changes cost us points. If we were more positive in at least 3 more games we would not even have been in p!ay offs.
