We're part of a wider trend, the issue isn't the number of people attending games - it's where they are attending. Scotland's active football support is high in relation to peers but is massively skewed by perceived social/religious/political allegiances to the big two. The weighting of punters is completely unsustainable when we punch above our weight for attendance per capita.

We're ****ed, for want of a better expression, by the national obsession of the Old Firm. It's going to come to a head.

......................and play at that level, arfw, in the nether regions of Scottish football? Follow your team in the SPL and hope we establish ourselves there.

Aye, with the likelyhood of the temperature not getting above 2c over the next week I personally would oppt for option A myself. Would far rather hear the game was off while I was in a nice warm Edinburgh pub than on the train through.

    First Post! About fricking time!

Managed to find my log-in details from yonks ago. I'm up for option B, get settled there nice and early and get tanked. Saves there being a wee stop after a few jars.

I don't want to get carried away, but it would be absolutely superb to see our unfshionable wee club with no fans and a manager that no-one likes top of the league. Of course Sellick will pump Hearts and all this will be spurious but never mind!

The only thing I will say is, no matter what happens, even if we get hammered, for feck sake please DO NOT BOO THE TEAM!

This isn't just the most exciting SPL season I can remember - it's the only exciting SPL season I can remember. At long last, we have a tight, exciting competition that isn't dominated by the same two clubs to the point of boredom and utter disinterest. Would absolutely love Saints to be top of the league tonight, but even if we're not it'll still be the case that there are five or six teams within a sniff of the top of the table and that is a fantastic thing for the league as a whole.

Well here we are. Never did I think that there would ever be a chance the St.Johnstone could lead the SPl after more than a couple of games. 15 games in and armageddon season has delivered us a mighty chance to top the table. The results tonight have gone our way and although we need Hearts to do us a favour tomorrow night it is not getting carried away to think that the unthinkable could happen.

We need to beat Hibs of course and that in itself will not be easy but to even be in this position is beyond my wildest dreams.

Lets just hope that dreams do come true and this tomorrow night Saints sit atop the pile.

You really don't want to miss this one folks..

    Come on you Saints

Anyone who watched the highlights of Hibs game versus Aberdeen at the weekend will realise that everything positive Hibs do, goes through Griffiths. Give him his due he looks to have come on leaps and bounds this season and Frazer Wright and Steven Anderson (if fit) will have to be on their game if we are going to get 3 points from this game.

Outwith Griffiths, Paul Cairney has impressed me anytime I have seen Hibs play this season and we will have to be careful of the intelligent runs he makes into the box. Hopefully McPake is still injured as well.

I still think Hibs have been over-hyped this season though and we are more than capable of getting a result. I think Rowan Vine defintley deserves to start, although not sure who should drop out? Tade perhaps?

Always enjoy these evening games under the floodlights. Got all the ingredients of a cracker, I would imagine the Hibs fans will travel in decent numbers too.

Lets hope by 10pm on Wednesday evening we are celebrating Saints sitting top or even second top of the SPL!

Usually a team, when reduced to 10 men, play a lot better than the team with 11. No surprise there anyway.

Thought it was a straight leg with his foot off the ground. Will need to see highlights top confirm.

Stats certainly support this view shots to 16 to 6 for saints with on target being 9-3. posession 59 to 41 for saints

It was frustrating at times but don't think we were "played off the park" at all. The team lacks pace which meant space was not exploited as it could have been. Playing the ball on the deck & keeping possession is exactly how to play against ten men (eleven too...), drag them out of position and tire them out.

We battered them in Perth but only won two one. To score in last minute showed a bit of character and we won. Some people seem to be pleased when things go against us and revel in a "told you so" attitude.

Need to watch it again but it looked to me that Pascali went in two footed with studs up. The fact he won the ball is irrelevant. The fact it was early in the game is irrelevant. Shiels normally keen that players such as Hasselbaink are "protected" by referees. Only his own players it seems.

A massive congrats and thanks to Liam Craig for his great contribution over the years. I know it sound's clichéd but he really has been a great servant to the club and has more than contributed with some incredibly important goals, non-more so than the screamer scored at Dunfermline in promotion season.

Can only echo the posts already on this thread - Liam has been a great player for us!

Guys like Liam, Chris Milar, Steven Anderson, Murray Davidson and Dave MacKay have been great servants for us the past few years and base on which much of our recent success has been built on.

It always suprises me when I speak to supporters of other clubs about Saints and the majority of the time most of them mention Liam Craig and how highly they rate him.

As much as I rate him though, I would have my doubts that he would be able to play at a higher level than he currently is. His lack of pace and inability to keep possession of the ball at time would work against him I feel.

I bet the Falkirk fans are gutted we got him so cheap! Here's to another 200 apperances in a Saints shirt!

Why don't all Saints fans from all regions meet somewhere central at a pre agreed time. Say the Muirton Suite on a Saturday at about 2pm?
