soulfulsaint
Who from the 1969 team were there? John Connolly, Kenny Aird, Fred Aitken, Buck McCarry, Gordon Whitelaw, Jim Donaldson, Benny Rooney and Jim Pearson were all there. Sang 'God Bless Them All' and 'Oh When the Saints' brilliant. Reebee
That was a great evening, the venue was amazing and the room looked awesome all Sainteed up. Loved the massive Saints 125 badges on the walls and there was also screens playing old games and photos. It was pretty classy. The speakers were the usual stock, Mr Cosgrove gave a patriotic reply, Gordon Bannerman was very good as MC and God (AKA, GB) spoke as well, he also mentioned there is a DVD coming out to celebrate the 125 year I think, can't wait. I was pi$$ed.
Hazel1884
All I'll say is Stewart Duff, rewind button and porn. Crackin night - really have no complaints, it ran over but it didn't bother anybody I don't think. Everyone seemed to have a good time and hats off to the club for putting on the event.

HenryHallsmyidol
Great night, great food, great company, excellent speakers and great to see all the former players there. Great to see you enjoyed it. I agree with you re the speakers I thought they were all excellent especially the ex bobby John McKelvie - he was hilarious
HenryHallsmyidol
Late nights and early mornings dont go well together! First time I've been in the Concert hall for a function like that and everybody at my table was very impressed, as said before food was good, if very slow between courses, which i think didnt help with the time keeping. Not so sure about the two main speakers, if i heard another Rangers quip from John McKelvie I could have screamed. Apart from those very minor gripes a very enjoyable night. All I'll say is Stewart Duff, rewind button and porn. Perthandproud - were you at the same dinner as us? We thought the speakers were excellent with John McKelvie fantastic. His two hilarious quips were anti Rangers and just what we want at a Saints Dinner.

I was sober and Willie Young and John McKelvie were hilarious with Stuart Cosgrove not far behind. Has anyone a video of the speakers I would love to hear them again, and again! Aitchy
That really was a fantastic night, well done to the club, made me proud to be a Saintee. As Reebee mentions the club are bringing out a dvd to celebrate our 125th year, ive had a sneak preview of it, and its a really good watch. Think they are planning on releasing it before Christmas, hopefully plenty will buy it, as the club have put in a lot of work to get the footage/photos from games from the 60's etc.
Noose76
Will it have any footage of the Real Madrid game? Hard to imagine Saints at the Bernabeu. What a laugh that would be nowadays.

wee john
I agree it was a great night but have one big issue. Out of the 300 guests I reckon half were not even Saints fans. I realise Saints have to keep the business community onside and with this in mind perhaps there should have been 2 dinners, with one exclusively for the real Saints supporters. Don't think Saints would be too intrested though:oops:

Henry, your not John McKelvie are you? Must agree with you though, McKelvie was good. I have seen and heard Willie Young before and he always manages to change something of his routine although the red/yellow card and the whistle is wearing thin ................. Ray Blair
I know what you are saying, I saw the picture in the PA of the table of " Saints Fans", first face you see is Big Shiner:laugh: In all fairness though I think this was organised in part through the Saints Buisiness Club and a quick look at the members list there will tell you that they are not all St Johnstone orientated. They are however a valuable financial asset to the club and therefor will be catered for on occassions like this. As far as I know the tickets were sold on a first come first served basis. When we enquired about tickets a few weeks after it was first mentioned there had been no enquiries. If you wanted to go you should have bought a ticket. I have seen and heard Willie Young before and he always manages to change something of his routine although the red/yellow card and the whistle is wearing thin ................. Betty Lavette, I am much younger and better looking than him (I hope), John McKelvie was excellent although he looks more like Barry Lavette who played with the manky Saints On reflection I agree with you re Willie Young. He was excellent and perhaps the card & whistle routine does detract from an otherwise excellent input.
