Hearts player on sex offenders register

Is there not an issue here with him coming to other grounds. I am pretty sure that being on the sex register means he cannot be around under 16s without supervision. All grounds have ballboys, so do Hearts now have to hire a bodyguard who will follow him round prior to matches.

The guy will take some stick and deservedly so.

Probaly only be an issue if it was a "ballgirl" hopefully !

As much Hearts have made a complete cock and balls of the whole affair (no pun intended, and no pictures supplied)

What is the score wi the SFA and the ESS PEE ELL? The silence has been deafening. A crime of this nature must involved the football authorities surely!

The fact he would have come into contact with children week in week out as part of his job, and that they sat by and did or said nothing is quite frankly frightening.

Pentland Primary school cancelled their visit to hearts training ground yesterday, no reasons given

I'm sure I read somewhere that Embra ****cul said they would not allow any schools to visit Tynecastle while he was still there

(its meant to say council, not a racist term!)

A suspension really is too little, too late. He should have been sacked immediately, and I agree that it is both disappointing and disturbing that the football authorities have not commented on such a serious matter. This paedophile cannot be allowed to come into our football grounds around our children, something like 88% of Hearts fans on their forum called for him to be sacked immediately and that speaks volumes. I know Romanov and his cronies are a bunch of t***s but surely as human beings they cannot condone employing a known predatory paedophile.

I wonder what changed Hearts minds to move from keeping him on, to now suspending him? Was it to do with the loss of sponsorship, the school cancelling the visit....or perhaps there are further potential charges coming to light

Its safe to say that when one sponsor pulled out then more would follow.Joke of a club at the moment and the Spl and Sfa aint much better.

Watch this space... it is my info that Fraser Wishart and the players union and Gary Mackay are willing to take on Hearts if they sack him .Please remember ( vile though he is) the judge never placed any restrictions on him and he has not broken his contract with Hearts.

I can see where the union is coming from. He's already been 'sanctioned' by the club with the fine etc. Not sure you can in effect charge an employee with double the charge just 'cos you got it wrong in the first place.

Seemed a pretty easy case initially, sack him. Now....not so sure they can do that in employment law etc. (no idea tho).

Perhaps they can say they thought it was an isolated case....and it turns out it wasn't (not saying that's the case, just what I read in the press).

Got sympathy for the Hearts fans, if he was one of our players I wouldn't want him within a million miles of the club again.

Don't know about the ramifications of being on the register, however the sheriff did state that he felt Thomson does not pose a threat to children and didn't make any conditions about being left unsupervised or not being allowed anywhere near areas of children in his sentencing.

A Jambo employment law specialist I was speaking to you yesterday happened to mention that he doesn't think they can sack him for the more recent allegations without having to compensate him and possibly being brought up in front of a tribunal. If it was based on the actual conviction, then they may have taken too long and sacking may be too severe, given he is "not a threat".

Could well be some busy lawyers at present for the SPL clubs working out what to do!

Doesn't pose a threat to children according to the Sheriff. Maybe mountains out of mole hills here. Lynching a guy for just being a silly wee laddie. Wouldnt be the first young man to be put on such an offenders list and the shame drives him to suicide. To many too quick to judge on here.

I think I'm tending to your way of thinking on this Sing. My laddie is on a database for 6 years because he nicked a bottle of beer from Tesco when he was pissed and had no money - was put up to it by a mate - eejit - but not a bad lad - wasn't charged or anything - but 'fined' £132 costs by Tesco. But being on the database will affect his ability to get a job as many retailers and supermarkets subscribe to this database and will see simply that he was caught shoplifting - nothing about him or the circumstances - and that wont look great. That said I don't actually know very much about what Thompson was actually doing or how much he actually knew - so I could easy change my mind.
