Falkirk Twitter saying that the saints side contained 5 overage players, would that be Clark Cummins gilchrist gordon and a n other

Not sure who the 5th player is/was.

Finished same as h/T score.

Falkirk hit the post when a score looked certain.

Saints almost equalised in the dying seconds as (think it was Docherty) worked an opening and fired in an effort from the left of goal, alas it hit the inside of the right post, came back across goal behind the keeper before he could turn round and was eventually cleared.

All in all, the better team deserved to win, as unusually Saints lacked cohesion and frequently gifted the ball back to the opposition.

Looked much better when Jardine came on with roughly 10 minutes left.

Time to drop the overage players, as it seems to upset the rhythm and understanding in the team.

Cummins........least said the better.

Is the 5th not McClean. Think he n may be over 20.

A bit worrying that we had half team of first team squad players & Hendry but couldn't score.

A third win from three pre-season games for the U20s today, as they came back from a couple of goals down to beat Jeanfield Swifts 5-3 in a testimonial match for Tony Holt. This followed wins over Penicuik Athletic (4-2) and Vale of Earn (9-0).

The make-up of the squad is now known and it's another young group, with only one 1998 player in it:

Goalkeepers

  • 45. Ross Sinclair (2001)

Defenders

  • 35. Cameron Lumsden (1999)
  • 36. Cameron Thomson (1999)
  • 39. Ciaran Brian (2000)
  • 46. Ben Quigley (2000)
  • 47. Jack Wilson (2000)

Midfielders

  • 37. Alistair McCann (1999)
  • 38. Cameron Ballantyne (2000)
  • 40. Jamie McKenzie (2000)
  • 42. Euan O'Reilly (2000)
  • 49. Daniel Jardine (1998)

Forwards

  • 41. Jamie Docherty (1999)
  • 43. John Robertson (2001)
  • 44. Shaun Struthers (2000)

Other than Daniel Jardine, who is heading into his third season with the group, John Robertson (112 goals for Tynecastle BC last season) is the only player who hasn't been promoted from Saints' own youth academy over the past couple of seasons.

Kyle McClean (1998) will also be eligible for the U20s but Tommy Wright was clear that he was signed as part of the first team squad. The Development League could also provide the opportunity for the 1997 players promoted to the first team squad (Comrie, Kerr, Hurst and Mackenzie) to get games and add some experience to a young group, although their ages mean they won't be eligible to play Development League football if they go out on loan.

The U20s will again take part in the IRN-BRU Cup and they were drawn away to Aberdeen U20s in round one. The tie is to be played at Glebe Park, Brechin on Tuesday 15 August (7:45pm).

Above should answer your question.

No sign of young Joe Johnston?

He was let go in the summer I believe. Now at Forfar I think.

I see Matt Henvey, who was part of Saints' academy is now banging in the goals for Dundee U20s. Anyone know what the story was there?

The fifth overage player against Falkirk was Hendry, he misses out on being eligible by a few weeks.

After a free week this week, Saints face Aberdeen at Glebe Park next Tuesday 26th Sept. K.o. 6pm.

Saints are 2 points ahead of their opponents after both having played 4 games.

Saints will be out to avenge the 1-0 defeat they suffered at the hands of the Dons in the Irn Bru cup, at the same venue in August.
