Dundee United players do seem to get priority these days !! odd that

Nothing odd about it! Dundee United have been 3rd and 4th in each of the last two seasons, once you have selected from the OF and Herts (if you can find any Scotsmen at those clubs) you go to the next best performing team....United! Fit and on his game Swanson is a gifted player who can turn games with his quick feet and quick thinking. Right now Swanso is bossing games every week in the SPL and the question is, if not Swanson then who?....

Give you your due, you are right about two things and I am sure Saints fans will agree.

Swansong (sorry dying swan) with his "Quick Thinking", (can find a reason to fall over an outstreached leg) and can "turn games?"

Ross McCormack, playing great fotball just now at leeds. who would you rather have?

And you've been watching a lot of Leeds matches or perhaps just reading low class papers.

Swanson is only in the squad because of the Leichtenstein game. They will sit deep and not try and attack. Bannan will have a lot of expectancy of creativity on him. Swanson is very much a back-up and will not likely play. Certainly won't get anywhere near the Spain game. He has the range of passing and ability to take a player on that may be needed for a game against such a defensive team. McCormack is different type of player.

As McCormack is a striker, that's not suprising he scores more often. You're arguement should surely be he should be there ahead of Miller, Naismith, Mackail-Smith or Goodwillie. Always a good idea to think through your arguement rather than taking it from Charlie Nicholas.

agreed to an extent.

i think under leveins formation we're always going to play 1 up (even on sat) with the lone striker undoubtedly miller then badfanny an MS as back up.

the wide roles will be fought between Naismith bannan swandive and forrest. even robson dorrans and snodgrass can play wide.if McCormack came into the squad id expect him to be fighting for a wide role therefor comparing him with swandive is not unreasonable

Danny Swanson, all day, every day! The only reason Swanson has not gone south (if you excuse the expression ) is his injury record. If he stays fit this season he will follow Hunt, Conway, Goodwillie, Kalvenas, Robson, Gomis, Bauben, to bigger and better things than the SPL.

One wide player is forward/winger and one is a midfielder, generally speaking under Levein. Probably be Bannan and Naismith that play those roles against Leichtenstein.

We can still beat the Lichties with a change up front but I don't think Spain will take Scotland for granted because they've qualified because they'll play for their fans at home whereas going to the Czech Republic they might not put everything into it but still might win. IMO.
