TheYellowBox
Anyone know what is going on with the proposed knocking down of the north stand? It has all gone a bit quiet. I thought I saw somewhere that it may be this season, which may mean only a few games left at mcd as it currently is!
ex-montrosesaintee
At risk of being shouted at for posting on the saints board and not the perth chat board, the proposal of application notice for a new supermarket was made for the land immediately east of McDiarmid, in line with the draft Local Development Plan. The planning legislation requires a minimum 3 month community consultation period before an application can be submitted. At the same time, the Local Development Plan must go through an examination in public, which is expected to take 9 months. It is often the case in such situations that there is a fluster of action and press coverage and then all goes quiet. I would be amazed if the proposed zonings for housing at Perth West and the retail allocation to the east of McDiarmid do not result in unresolved objections from the public and development industry. In this case the sites cannot really be brought forward for development until AFTER the examination in public of the Local Development Plan is complete. In Aberdeenshire this took 13 months. In Aberdeen City it took 7. I cannot realistically see anything happening with delivery of the new road through the North Stand in 2012. (Actually, looking at their action program, they don't anticipate sending the plan to the Scottish Government to START the examination in public process until summer 2013, with adoption expected late 2014.) TheYellowBox
Cheers. However, knocking down a quarter of our stadium would qualify as saints related and don't let anyone else tell you otherwise. ;-)
Jimmy Wallace
I'm still not in favour of this. I think it will ruin McD. ok it's not the most atmospheric but at least it's symetrical.

john1962
Can we just call it The Wind Tunnel? Its bad enough with four stands. Living in Glasgow I had to laugh that they said it was to ease traffic. Is the traffic that bad?

MiguelSimao
That the club have not yet made a statement on this is absolutely shameful. No wonder nobody in Perth gives a ****.

Mike
http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/weallstandtogether/ I made this a while ago and sort of gave up on it. Sign it and pass it around, might be worth sending to the club if there's enough interest.
Calypso Kid
I used to drive up past the stadium at rush hour and the traffic was minor annoyance. It would be interesting to see the case for this and projected uplift in traffic.
Calypso Kid
Chairman was at SPL meeting all day. He's got a point, this is a massive strategic move for the club and hasn't exactly crept up.
