If picked up on a pay as you play deal and forced to wear saints training gear while sitting in Ladbrokes, could be some free advertising for the club?

In reality players at the level we are cannot afford to take pay as you play deals, Think if the guy is based in Glasgow and trains 4 days a week, then doesn't get a game then its cost him a couple of hundred quid to train. Big EPL teams can do this but only because they are paying the players about 5/10k a week with a silly bonus of like 30/40k for playing

Ever since Michael Owen got one of these deals in Manchester I keep seeing people on here suggesting them whenever a journeyman/injury prone player's name is thrown around, but are there any examples of it actually being used in Scotland? I can't think of any, and really can't see it being an option for most players in this country, or (as you say) in any league below the EPL. Doubt it's something that would even be considered.

He's screwed up a fantastic opportunity to invest and provide for a fantastic future  however he's not the first or will he be the last to piss away thousands..

At least he's humble enough to do what it takes to help his family....

PS  So glad he never got the opportunity and pissed away any of St Johnstones money
