patsy
We've got a drinking area....and as many people are killed either directly or indirectly by alcohol, so cannae really blame anyone who smokes, wanting a smoking area!.....then again...how many areas would we have to provide...if we need to cover all vices/hobbies, pastimes or whatever floats yer boat etc! What drinking area?

AthensSaint
we could turn the car park into a dogging area After some of the rumours of what goes on behind closed doors at McDiarmid, do we need a dogging area at the stadium ? PerthSeany
What would you all say if an alcholic demanded we allow him a drink at half time because he cannot wait the rest of the game without having another drink. You would say "get a grip" you can wait till you get home for a drink surely Whats the difference a smoker waiting till they get an inch outside the fire exit a full time to light up like they all do at the moment? If there is a safe designated smoking area and your no getting a waft up yer nostrils .Then what is the problem for you and your ilk? What is it to do with me? I attend games there? Well if this debate was between people who just smoke its going to be a very one sided topic isnt it? What would be the point in a forum if no one debates and just agrees with each other? I didn't say there was a problem. I just find people whinging they cant get a fag for an hour and a half a little pathetic. I simply asked the question, asked what is the difference? If its the smokers themselves making terrible points as to why it should be allowed because its a "freedom of choice" - which is a completely ridiculous and selfish point of view. I did not say they cant smoke but they shouldn't effect others either, in terms of either others having to clean up after them (smokers like throwing fag ends on the ground) or effecting other peoples health. In other words (basically) IF you want to do something then you have to move to the Main stand where it seems you can drink and head out at H/T for a ciggy or 2. Alternatively some bright spark needs to invent some form of helmet with a large funnel to git the smoke extracted
AthensSaint
I think we would most likely lose more supporters by allowing this step backwards in time than gain or keep any. In this day and age of encouraging healthy living, who wants to send their child to a smoke filled atmosphere. What happens to the young kids, get left on their own or have to leave their seats with their selfish parents at H/T. This is no surprise from a country that has the worst heart disease record in Europe. What's next, stop the movie at the cinema for 15 minutes half way through so somebody can have a fag. This comes on the same day that our English cousins are debating stopping smoking in Tragfalgar Square, outdoor meeting places and public parks. We are a disgrace on the health front. I bet the ones pushing this still smoke in their own living rooms and their wives smoke through pregnancy........Disgraceful !!!! Jiangsu Sainty
There should never ever be a smoking area. Standing and drinking are way ahead in the queue, and even drinking is pretty questionable. NO SMOKING ZONE EVER

Well if you see the "designated smoke zone" where i work then you would change your mind. Its a sh*t hole. Fags all over the ground, packets just chucked on the ground. They always end up having to pay people to come in and clean it up because the smokers are incapable of using bins. ejksjfc
It should be noted I don't "like " the above post but I do wholeheartedly agree with it. There is no way I would support SJFC implementing a smoking area within McD........... it would definitely be a backward step.

Jiangsu Sainty
Given McD is an open space with swirling wind, the answer is that it would blow your smoke all over myself and any present children, no matter when located (although to different extents), as well as the mess mentioned above. PerthSeany
I think they are more thinking out the back of the stand rather than in the stand though.
