It would make a lovely, wide-open plaza.

Yeah ,it will be great sitting there in the freezing wing & rain. There are tables outside the cafés & restaurants in the square & the only people sitting there ,other than on the 6 nice days of the year ,are the smokers wrapped up against the elements.

People always say that. They said it where I am in Beverley, too, when there was a plan to turn the Saturday market into an open piazza instead of the current car park. People said exactly that. But there are tables and chairs outside several cafes and restaurants in town now and they're always full.

I'm all for the city hall staying ONLY if they can get the stone of destiny and turn the building into a tourist attraction telling the history of the stone, kings etc. Perth really lacks a 5 star tourist attraction in the centre and it's something that would appeal to a huge range of people. If that isn't possible, bring it down.
