Marketing Wrong?

So I get updates every other day from Saints trying to flog me an Alan Storrer car or Lionel Ritchie ticket - even telling me how many tickets are left

When was the last time the club sent an email or posted on the website trying to sell something of theirs?

If I got an email every week telling me here is the product of the week or these events will be happening soon then I would more than likely buy one or two things over the season.

I never get any marketing emails from Saints and I have no idea if I'm on the club database for tickets or not. I've asked to be added to these lists in the past, but never get a reply. Shame, really, as I suspect I might be in their target market.

every fan and potential fan should be their target marketĀ

TMC are you talking emails, Facebook alerts via the official page or Twitter?

Mainly emails

Ā

For me Twitter and Facebook are not used as marketing sales tools in this instance. The Coverage of matches on Twitter and Periscope is great, Not sure about Facebook as thats for perverts and families to argue so I don't use it.

But Social media you need to subscribe to them to get this information - its not being sent out directly to engage with people who wouldn't see it, Even on social media you only see the updates if you actually notice them!

Mmmmmmm, not sure what you are inferring here about Facebook and perverts, but as it is the only Social Media Platform that I really understand I can confirm that IĀ do get updates from Saints on it. Every day about Lionel Ritchie tickets!

I get the weekly (?) emails from TW but don'tĀ get any marketing emails which is why I was asking the question.

Only Season Ticket holders get the TW

there are fans with specialism in DB management and newsletter marketing who have offered to help out with the club marketing, but they never respond. I'm not one of them, i just told them about MySpace and social media in 2005 (hence my name on here)...... thankfully they have caught up on those fronts

I'm a season ticket holder, used to get the TW email but just stopped, emailed a couple of times, nothing changed, so just left it.

But as said in the past by a myself and others on here, if you buy tickets from most English clubs online, you get bombarded with marketing e mails, Saints certainly miss a trick in this area and lose out on another potential revenue stream

How many season ticket holders have been lost over the last 10 years ? I'm guessing 1500 - 2000 ? Correct me if I'm wrong. Have the club made any effort to find out why ?Ā

I don't think the club have covered themselves in glory on the marketing side. They have employed non-football people in these positions over recent years...jobs for the boys / girls ?

I live abroad now, but any time I'm back and pop up to the ticket office for a match ticket, I encounter this very sarcastic guy who leaves a very sour taste in my mouth...horrible person. Wouldn't have got away with that in the Geoff days. It's not the club I grew up with, loved and was very proud of.Ā

St.Johnstone always prided itself on being a family friendly club. Couldn't be further from that now :-(

They try with the free tickets to Schools, the family deals are quiteĀ good, but I do agree our marketing this year has been pretty dire. 7 days notice for an all ticket game is poor planning.

Our very poor home form, mixed with a general apathy from many of the missingĀ  15,000 at Parkead joinedĀ with poor marketing from the club, is a pretty toxic mix ahead of next season.Ā  Can't see the Ormond opening again.

Yep, think they have binned this, but no communication. I don't get them anymore anyway.Ā

Don't worry, he'll be there in 30 years time cos he is also bullet proof.
