  1. I have fired off a complaint to the BBC.. it goes like this.. Sportscene has become a pathetic and rudderless program with no coherent structure. The "highlights" shown are shocking, both in content and actual time allotted. The Celtic v Aberdeen game was given upwards of 24 minutes where as the "highlights" of three other games got somewhere close to 100 seconds in total. More time was allowed for a frankly embarrassing story about Partick Thistles mascot. We also had some random footage of a game from many years ago and an awful Halloween theme running through the programme. I am a football fan and all I want to do is to watch decent highlights of all the games in the SPFL. All the other stuff is just fluff which is not required. Who ever is in charge of producing Sportscene seems to have lost sight of what it is, a football highlights show, not a light entertainment offering. They should be made to watch the excellent Match of the Day so at least they might then have a slight idea what good programme making is all about. Then we come to the pundits. They were particularly awful in this programme. Billy Dodds called the league the SPL and a comment was made regarding a team finishing second OR in a play-off place when football fans with even the slightest idea of or game set up would know that second place would only get a play off place and not automatic promotion. This show is now a laughing stock. One only has to browse internet football forums to discover what the vast majority of football fans think of the quality of Sportscene

Stuff the Manager of Month award, I'll take you back to my original post in this topic. Let's give Tommy something really memorable from a St Johnstone point of view. When the voting opens for the next Hall of Fame event I will be casting my vote to have Tommy inducted asap. For our top six finishes, our European qualifications, the away win v Rosenberg, our first ever Scottish Cup final win, more cup semis, signing a new long term contract, and being a genuine good guy who talks up his players and his team, the guy is already a St Johnstone legend and thoroughly deserves his place among our heroes to be remembered forever.

  3. King has defo picked a fight with the wrong guy. As I have posted before , Ashley doesn't seem the kind of guy that will let anyone get one over on him, and his clear lack of morals means he will stop at nothing to get his way Anyway, I am going to sit back and enjoy the carnage. Stevie May

With all the debate about Stevie May it is interesting to not the change in Graham Cummins since he came to play for us. The common feature in both who is there partner up front. Steven MacLean!

What is the email address to send it too? I want to slaughter them as well, it's been brewing for weeks... don't understand the animosity towards Pat Nevin to be honest. He's not great but I think him and Michael Stewart are about as good as we've got in Scotland in terms of being able to construct sentences reasonably well, and not being old firm obsessed.

Indeed! I noticed a tweet from Perth Academy, saying that one of their 4th years played the full 90 minutes against Stranraer for our U20s on Saturday. 4th year at high school would be 14/15 I think, seeing as we're not quite into the new year yet. Apparently another one made an appearance in the match too. I looked a little bit further back, and another Perth Academy pupil (a 14 year old) made the bench against Hearts in our U20s win against them. I've had a couple of conversations with people at the club in the past about youth development and the focus has been on getting young players involved in the more 'senior' youth sides earlier. They also wanted a bigger presence of Perth kids in the team. Probably a good thing as I think we have missed out on these guys at a young age. Saints have spent a decent amount of money on youth development and facilities etc for them and it's great to hear good things about the u15 and u17 sides. Fingers crossed we can get some more players into the first team squad over the next few years, even make some more money on fees in the future. Certainly seems to be a few boys at the club (Hurst, Thomson etc) who are emerging as potential first team players and even more out on loan.

  9. Some of the kids on the bench Sunday looked as if they had been nicked from the Under 15's - the future is looking a lot rosier than it has for a few years.

  11. As someone stated elsewhere our next 3 games are Killie, United and Dundee and I cannot see any reason why we should not be looking to take 9/9 from them. Then though , I look back to Partick at home and realise that nothing is straight forward with our team, especially when it comes to games we might class as easier. All that said though, I really believe that with more hard work, grit and determination, this team can deliver even more than the teams of the last two seasons and that SECOND place (which would be our highest ever league finish) is a possibility. For us to do that though, we really need to be constantly at the top of our game and we cannot let our guard slip at any time. Selection wise, TW will have some tough decisions to make but that is something he has dealt with quite well in his time with us. Lets hope that this time next week we are a wee bit closer to the three sides above us. COYS.

  13. Coffee beans from Milngavie and the Stars aligning in the Western Quarter of the Scottish Capital, Kirkcudbright, but only after a Snake jumps out a tree in Queenslie and bites Simon Cowell on the helmet, and even at that Rik Mayall has to play the part of Roger Federer at the Ryder Cup or is it maybe a straight choice between Real Oviedo and a pair of worky boots from Fergusons?

  14. Losing at home to Thistle is a hanging offence imo, so not surprised he didn't win it

  15. The Ashley v King saga reminds me of the film "The Sting". In it the baddie, Doyle Lonnigan, who has his fingers in many pies (mostly doubtful) is asked why he is pursuing the goodie, Hooker - played by Robert Redford, who has done him for a few thousand dollars, sweeties to Lonnigan. He replies that if it became known that a two bit drifter could get the better of him even for effectively loose change his reputation would be ruined and his real competitors, the other baddies, would be onto him like a shot. Now I know King is no Robert Redford but you can see the Ashley/Lonnigan parallel.

  16. Must be something in the air, my complaint has been sent, interesting to see how long it takes to get a reply. Looking forward to the next Sportscene and seeing Saints get a 25 minutes highlight package. Aye, right

  18. I groan when I watch Sportscene, some of the presentation is cringe worthy. There is no reason that a short magazine program like Sportcene can't be a really good production. It's way time we had a make over. Someone needs watch some re runs of the late great Arthur Montford - precise, concise and unambiguous. "Watch yer heels Billy"..........

  20. I would like to suggest a new saints song, one that takes in recent events in games, but also covers our perennial underdog label we seem to be branded with. The tune is obvious and it follows: We're forever bursting bubbles Pretty bubbles in the air Teams fly so high, up in sky Then play saints and fade and die We're forever bursting bubbles Pretty bubbles in the air We burst the don's, Jackie Mac's and the gers, we burst bubbles everywhere We're forever bursting bubbles pretty bubbles in the air Followed by the clap with the shout Perth Saints at the end.

Sunday night must be the worst ever, why do they think that Connie girl adds anything to the programme and all the time wasted with rubbish and bits of old games when three important games get three minutes. Whoever is the producer should be sacked and replaced by someone interested in football. I could go on but.

  22. McNamara now 4/6 favourite for the York job. Im holding out for Clough (10/1) or Wilson (20/1), but Russ Wilcox might be an interesting bet at 16/1 only 9 days after being booted out of the job. Top work, SkyBet.

  24. Absolutely crucial we make a fast start in this game. We seem far too laid back in the early stages of games at home; get in hard and fast and lay down the foundation early.

  25. Dylan Easton, man of the match for Elgin yesterday. Completely wasted playing at that level, but should certainly help City toward play-offs this season. Jim Weir and Gavin Price are putting together a pretty good side. Yesterday was probably the best team performance I've seen in the bottom tier for few seasons. All 3 Saints loanees are playing their part.
