Europa League 2Nd Qualifying Round Draw

Dear Saints fan

We said that we would keep you up to date with the club’s plans for our European away trip and this email brings you the latest position.

You will appreciate that it is difficult for us to make firm arrangements as it is not yet clear whether we will be going to Belfast or Trondheim and whilst we have undertaken preparatory work for travel to both venues, we are unable to make a firm commitment to the agents until it is absolutely certain where we will be playing.

Our early figures for Norway show that the costs of the one night trip (out on the Wednesday morning and back immediately after the game, arriving in Edinburgh in the early hours of Friday) would be a maximum of £850. This price includes coach transfer to and from Edinburgh airport, return flight, transfers to the hotel in Trondheim, one nights’ accommodation, travel escort, taxes etc and ATOL certification. Match ticket is not included.

On the basis of the above – and please note that a final price has still to be confirmed – can you please advise us by way of a reply email not later than 5pm on Tuesday 9th July whether it would be your intention to book seats on this trip and if so, how many.

Should the trip be to Belfast rather than Trondheim, it is likely that this will be by coach rather than plane and prices are being sought at the moment.

We share your frustration that we are unable to make firm plans and commitments pending the outcome of the Crusaders v Rosenborg tie but trust you will understand the club’s position on the matter.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Regards

St Johnstone FC

I thought £450 ish for Aberdeen/Amsterdam/Trondheim was slightly dear but £850 each is ridiculous for one night and no ticket., especially when it is times two! The slight problem with the Aberdeen solution is the return flights, but even having to stay longer it will still be cheaper and you can have a mini break!

Cant see the average fan rushing to book this. Then again it might depend on the definition of the included "travel escort"

My research indicates you can get flights from Oslo to Trondheim for about £112 (there's 1 or 2 for £84).

Edinburgh to Oslo on the Wed evening is £125

If your prepared to go to England you can get to Oslo for £58 from Stansted or Liverpool, £84 from Manchester.

I was looking at flights from Aberdeen the other week

only problem was the 22 hour or so wait between connection flights! which isnt good

From the people looking at private flights where are you booking through because that £850 is a bit OTT in my opinion. as the private booked ones are a massive saving also I want to get on one with other supporters as well so me & my brother arent travelling on our own missing out on the supporter banter!

I've looked through the posts previously and trying to keep up with everyones plans but a recap of of where to book online and which destinations are the most conveinent for good times and price etc.

I've seen a lot of people travelling from Gatwick etc?

the flights I looked at had connection times of approx 1 hour on the way out, less than 2 hours on the return.

How much??? I had a quick look on the net this morning and flights out of Edinburgh were about £450...Ok you had to change in Olso...but still.

Flying from Aberdeen I got a three day stay to be around £800 incl the hotel.

I was going to go with the club...but if the price is any where near that, then I'd be as well making my own way.

We are just over £300 each. Flights from Aberdeen to Bergen (SAS airlines) Tuesday 16th then onto Trondheim (Norwegian airlines) hour and half later. 3 nights stay including breakfast then reverse trip on Friday.

Where are you booking these though.

where you staying,

Because I'm looking at prices and hotels etc and im looking easily £500 each even with just 2 night stay.

My thoughts are that Turkey was awkward to organise, and there was a good chance they would sell subsidised tickets for the charter flight to minimise a loss.

The Norway trip offers a myriad of options, with cheap flights from all over Britain, so most people will do better £££wise than the charter flight, subsidised or not.

Whether they charge £850 or £500 per person, it will probably attract the same number of folk.

Still a d*** move by the club charging way over the odds and not even including a match ticket. I really hope they struggle to fill their flight.
