Took time out to visit his old secondary school in Perth this afternoon after he finished training. Around 80 kids were playing small sided games and Spoony joined in and made sure he spoke to all the kids involved. He also took part in an open question and answer session with the kids which was brilliant. He then took time to make sure all the kids got all the autographs and pictures that they wanted. Top guy, a great ambassador for Saints! Thanks Spoony.

  2. This may be to simplistic as not a lawyer. If you threaten to take away someone else's human rights, in this case the right to life, should the person or group so doing be deemed to have abrogated there human rights. And before everyone starts listing examples where this has not happened in there real world I think this should be the guiding principal.

It's a double edged sword for wee Steve, if the fee was feckin huge he would be under the gun to give Tommy a barrow load for signings. Then if on the other side if he sold our hero for a bargain basement price he will get dogs abuse simple l.o.l.

  7. That greedy pig banner was one of the best and most app banners ever displayed. Fans of every club in Europe should display one. Not just over the celtic issue, more about how uefa's greed and pandering to the big clubs has ruined football.

Why didn't Strachan think of this before the Germany game. Kris would have scored at least three. What a f*cking knob

Don't see it myself. Conduct on both sides of the debate has been excellent with only the Unionist press and Jim Murphy in particular trying to paint a different picture. I think their evidence boils down to one egg.(Pun intended)

  19. That would be a good time for your work. On the way down they forced us into the second 'football special' because we were wanting to hold back for the 3rd one and the railway staff said "They're well gone ..... you're just young lads GET ON!". Fascist! Seemingly the next train was crammed full and he didn't want us to miss out. There was no security on trains in these days, I remember we had stopped and the engine was still chugging away and someone said "Where are we?" ......... "Glasgow" ....... "Where abouts in Glasgow?" ........ and guys just got off the train .......... then flashing lights and uniforms and sirens all came into action. Of course that meant everything was being held up behind us including trains coming in from Edinburgh and Fife towards Queen Street. We god directed to a side track to be checked out ..... maybe our immigrant status. Then I heard someone said "Where are we?". Football Specials were your entry to manhood. I remember before the start of the game Bill Tennant (very nice man and media man) and his minders tried to kick us out our seats in the North Stand and then they realised we were in the right seats. Just before the game his minders came along with sausage rolls, pies, chilled Coke and other stuff. You remember these things - bit of class. Then we had to suffer watchingb Gert Muller, Denis Law, Jimmy Johnstone, Alan Gilzean (Perthshire), Franz Beckenbaur, Bertrand Vogts (the young version of the man who got fine young Dundee man Mr. Dailly in trouble) etc. Cracking goal by Lisbon Lion - Bobby Murdoch. Then the long journey home.

Indeed.. IMO YES is a no brainer...oil or no oil! If anyone is in any doubt at all whether 'we could go it alone' needs to look no further than the way the opposition is doing all in its power to hold on to us?! Hope against hope us Scots don't bottle it. If folk think Scotland is hard done by now, it will be nothing compared to a post No vote! We have been warned. Three things I thought I wouldn't witness in my lifetime 1. Andy Murray winning Wimbledon 2. Saints winning a major cup 3. Scotland gaining independence.. Fingers crossed....

SaintDunc Of course it's open to debate, and many from both sides have tried to make either factual points or engage in healthy discussion in this thread. It's the future of the country that's at stake. And while it's a big deal that can raise emotions, it's also fantastic that so many are engaged with it and talking about the future. Overall, it's immensely positive. Of course, not everyone has been like this. You, for example, have mocked, insinuated, derogated and exaggerated without ever making a single constructive comment. By dragging the debate into the gutter you've stifled the reasoned exchange of views, criticising anyone who holds opposing views as 'deluded' and 'brainwashed' while - without a hint of shame - requesting a 'proper adult discussion' and calling for civility. But I suspect this was your intention from the start, because it means you don't have to bother to actually think for yourself.

There is not going to be riots on the street. This is a civillised country with educated people. No one is going to riot no matter the result. R.e Trident. I grew up in a small village called Rosneath, looking onto Faslane. Nearly half my family work there and nearly all of them are voting yes. One of them, his job depends solely on there being trident but he is a Yes. It's not about self interest but for Scotland as a whole.

Lots of threads in this conversation I try to ignore the party politics parts as I don't think they're entirely relevant. If I examine my motivations, at the root of everything, I am Scottish, not British. Scotland is a country, and a country should govern itself. Every argument I construct will stem from that so I guess I'm one of the people that would vote for independence at any cost. Thankfully, Scotland doesn't need to become independent at any cost. In broad terms, it's a stable country with a strong economy, and a well educated, skilled, population, without any obvious natural enemies. Plenty of countries have become independent from far worse situations than Scotland is currently in, and thrived. Arguments against independence are mainly technocratic, and dwell in the land of speculation about all the bad things that could happen, as far as I can see. I don't see that the union serves Scotland, I don't see that Westminster serves all of the population of the UK. Westminster is a centralising force, that is woefully corrupt, and governs as if we were in a different period of history. It is not fit for purpose and doesn't have the will to reform. London Super J touched on shared sovereignty, sovereignty isn't shared enough for my liking. I would say for a union of unequal partners to work, there need to be mechanisms in government for the smaller partners voices to be made louder. In point of fact, what we will see happening is Scotland's voice in Westminster to be reduced. There's already talk about reducing the number of Scottish MPs to a per capita share, to prohibit Scots (and Welsh and Northern Irish) MPs from voting on so-called English-only issues. One way I could see the union working going forward would be to abolish the Lords and replace it with a chamber with comparable powers, but with equal representation from the "home countries" to balance the weakness of voice in the Commons, anybody think there's a snowballs-chance-in-hell of constitutional reform on that scale happening in the UK? Devo max won't happen, if there was any will for it, it would have been on the ballot. Westminster won't give anything away without duress. Will an independent Scotland be perfect? Of course not, we'll all bitch and moan just as much we do today about politicians. Will an independent Scotland be better than today? We can only speculate on that. In balance, I'd say there are more credible arguments made by pro-independence leaning people that an independent Scotland will do better than Scotland as part of the union. I don't need to set them all out, you can find them yourselves. But then I'm biased

Countries that engage in illegal invasions of other countries tend to be unpopular with extremists. So while there's no guarantee that a terrorist act couldn't happen in Scotland, the chances would certainly be smaller - unless you subscribe to the opinion that terrorist acts are entirely random.
