Partick Thistle V Saints. 14/03/15

MacLean was trying his best, but was chasing down and pressuring a defender who'd then simply pass it to one of the three other defenders standing in acres of space as nobody else was pressing with him, not sure how swapping Kane for MacLean would change anything.

Once again the loan striker it does not work. You are correct swapping would not change anything but as a strike partner to support him would. The loan striker gives a back four all the time in the world.

Partick took the piss out of our formation. Even with more men in the middle of the park we looked swamped.

Every time we got one of our attacking players onto the ball he had his back to goal and the ball went backwards never to return forward.

It wont have been easy on that pitch but ours is not much better.

Partick wanted that far more than us, three terrible goals to lose but the third was a belter of a finish.

Tommy maybe needs a rocket up his arse!! Had it to easy as a manager. Bringing McFadden on after 55 mins is a joke!

pretty sure one supporter had a meaningful chat with him at one point during the game yesterday -didnt help tho- at least we are safe from the drop or play off ( i hope)........Tour of Ireland anyone ??

I still feel like we took too long to close Bannigan for the third, we seemed to just watch him control it and take aim before bothering to try and stop him. It happened with Stevenson two or three times aswell.

The only positive was that Stevenson never scored, even when Davidson set him up for a free shot.

The same could be said about Ando, seen him get bullied by big centres regularly,Frazer is the only one we have that really gets to grips with the physical side of defending, although I think Scobbie is more than adequate at centre half,Ando gets a real easy ride for all his nightmare moments, something I've never understood tbh

Scobbie was bullied very easily, and took too many touches instead of getting it out to Easton quicker when on the ball. As has been said though, the whole defence had a stinker.

Swanson was busy, and was desperate to link up with someone, but too often we had so few players forward he ended up getting over crowded and losing it.

While Saints fans feel ultra sore after this, imagine Sunderland shipping 4 at home to Villa or Man City losing to bottom club Burnley.Grimace, shake the heid and move on.

or imagine Celtic losing to St Johnstone and then the latter well beaten by Partick Thistle

As you say, grimace and move on. Or stay grumpy for a week :)

5 times we've played a game after a gap of more than one week this season:

10 days: 0-3 (L) Partick (A).
13 days: 2-0 (W) Partick (H).
14 days: 2-1 (W) Ross County (H).
14 days: 1-2 (L) Kilmarnock (H)
14 days: 0-1 (L) Dundee (H).

All of those games were winnable, 4 at home and yet we managed 6 points out of 18. 3 of them have been shocking performances. I'm not sure if it relates to the break or our inconsistency this season in general but we've been guilty of throwing in dreadful performances after good ones this season (and last).

Last season we managed to follow up scoring 4 goals with shipping 4 goals in consecutive games twice.
