rik2304
So, is Macca a legend or not? Is scoring the winner in our only cup final win enough to qualify? If not, then what qualifies you to be a legend?Discuss.
Jiangsu Sainty
Fantastically provocational survey wording. Well done.Of course I'm of the view that Macca is a legend.I can at least understand that the older a supporter is the higher the number of players they will have seen pass through the doors, and the harder it will be for a player to stand out.Even with that, can't abide the idea that Macca doesn't stand out. blueheaven
Ali91
If all he had done at Saints was score THAT goal I'd still class him as a legend, however the way he has went about representing Saints on the pitch, ingrained himself in the culture of the club and created countless other magical moments for the fans outwith the cup final means that his place in folklore is assured for evermore. He's genuinely fantastic. <3 double deluxe, Wendy Saints and blueheaven
Honest Saints Fan
Yes. I love him. He optimises every good about Saints over the last few years. I really love him. Wendy Saints and blueheaven
ejksjfc
His reported actions during half time in the semi final against Aberdeen is enough to make him a legend without adding any actual playing moments. blueheaven, double deluxe, Honest Saints Fan and 1 other
Dooj
Did he not score 2 goals in his first game back after being out for 6 months in the cup winning year? (Might have got that completely wrong). Anyway, his return from serious injury on several occasions contributes to legendary status in my eyes. Also, not simply scoring in the final, but *that* celebration - iconic imagesAnd, the story about the speech he gave at halftime in the semi - about not wanting to be lying on the beach while Aberdeen played in the final. Total legend. It's not just about a goal scoring record... blueheaven
deej
Did he not score 2 goals in his first game back after being out for 6 months in the cup winning year? Ali91
Him launching Scobbie into the fans after knocking out Luzern, his elbow to Stevie May when Mayzo tried to celebrate with him during the cup final, his completely unnecessary top off celebration against Aberdeen that replicated his cup final celebration. Even his absolutely atrocious penalties are quite endearing. The man is a loose cannon.

jhq
Of course he's a legend. People who can't see past his scoring record don't understand the game.

The ghost of Jim Morton
Yes. Firstly for his winning goal in our first and so far only major trophy win. Then we have his celebration. If that was not what the word legendary was invented for then I'm a phucking Dutchman. We then have his motivational "on the beaches" speech at half time in the Dons semifinal. ( phuck me Churchill would have been proud oh that ane) His contribution to our wee team over, what will one day be known as the " gloriously, sweet as a nut , unfukingbelievably beautiful era" is immeasurable. He's also a bit crazy, which is braw, and like nothing more than to get stuck right intae any chunt who tries to take the piss.. The man's a legend alright..PS. His current form is a bit shite.. Shibbydoo
i think yes - a winner only happens in a game that has a scoreline difference of 1 so 2-1 the second is the winnerthere is no winning goal in a 2-0 game and if there was it would be the 1st goal

SaintJet
I remember not that long ago when macca was long term injured and thinking that our chances of staying in the prem were in the balance- that's how important I held him. He's still a huge part of our team. I have friends in Sheffield and they still have fond memories of him.
