Viaplay League cup

Awful, levels we have fallen, need to move away from because they are Perth they are decent, Liam Gordon is absolute guff, boy Ballintyne did well at  but very average, they don’t get the stick likes of Carey gets, but they are just as culpable, and are these two really going to produce week on week, I don’t think so, both championship at best, max we all got carried away with couple of performances, he was playing later on in league one. The youngsters are raw and great experience but these results will make or break some.

Gave Macca the benefit but as part of the Davidson shambles personally wanted us to look elsewhere, but supported him, but regardless of squad etc, should still have too much for stenny and Stirling, something far wrong here be it manager, players, board all feels just so toxic and support being fed bullshit every week.

Sat through both these games from the East Stand. The Ayr game was bad enough but at least there was a fair bit of shooting against a packed defence keeping the ball out but today was way worse. Both visiting teams deserved to win.

Cannot share the general positivity towards Jephcott...unless he has a massive improvement in sharpness/fitness to come he sadly looks like just another journeyman. May has gone backwards by two years..when you saw him come on you felt we would not score. Considine running as if he was knee deep in mud. Forum caned Carey but thought he was, Ballantyne apart for first 20 mins..our most competitive player against Ayr. The string of youngsters across the middle has a real men against boys feel to it up against rugged committed and experienced lower league stalwarts. They have a lot of developing to do. Maybe one at a time in the side rather than so many all at once.

Think Max has been a bit powderpuff and tries to beat too many men, and end product is less than you would expect. Ballantyne will get there, and the young lad McCrystal who scored against Alloa and came on again today looks to have a bit of dig about him though really still a youth player.

Still a bit numb at such a half paced capitulation to Stirling Albion...4-0 at home...staggering. McLean will not keep the fan base onside for long if this is the fare dished up. Dreading Hearts.....

Was Wright , Carey & Booth etc out injured ,

If Macca played that team through preference he has a lot answer for. I think he underestimated Stirling who had a few players that have been round the block and know all the dark arts.

Was Considine and McGowan carrying knocks as you shouldn't have them on the bench whilst playing so many kids , especially playing some of them out of position.

I thought at half time they were going to replace Phillips by McGowan but it was Brown, was he injured.

Phillips and Gordon were dog shit and hopefully they are the senior players he was not happy with.

Mind you it could have been any of the senior players, May included.

Gallacher gives us nothing going forward.

We lost 3 goals from balls in the box and one where the guy had the freedom of Perth for second goal. 4 chances 4 goals. Saints umpteen chances no goals.

Another season where we can't win games at home , against lower league teams.

Good luck to Stirling , I think they made it to the next round.

I'd rather we focus on team/player development versus result, meaningless game. Agree above poster on Jephcott, good to see more of his game.

You got your wish. How did that turn out ?.

Jephcott did not impress.

Yup agree to some level, but at least in the first half he was getting shots off and was in position to shoot, but not sharp yet. But better to practice, sharpen up in a meaningless game where the score doesn't matter surely?

We don't know what Macca was testing out or trying, but at least no points lost in process.

Not a great league cup outing, but let's see how we show up after a few league games before we panic.

Couple more signings needed still, to beef up squad in my view.
