  1. Very sad news. Les passed away this afternoon at Ninewells Hospital after a period of illness that he was unable to overcome. Many on WAP will know Les and if you wish to post your thoughts please do. I have spoken with Janie, Les's wife, and I know she will take comfort from any thoughts / messages posted. Les was a grand neighbour and friend and we enjoyed many a laugh and chat about his beloved Saints. He so enjoyed his European adventures and made great friends in Eskisihir - indeed he had visited a few times since our games with them and organised and hosted a visit of his Turkish friends and friends of Saints during which visit they were guests of Saints at a game against Hamilton. RIP Les.

  2. Was looking through an old box of photographs and found this. Does anyone recognise themselves. Game was the Saintes v Aberdeen New Year game on 2nd January 1969. Saints won 3-1, we were a top 6 club that season also. Picture is from the PA on 3rd January. I'm the kid with their legs over the wall and the woolly hat on, eleven days before my fifth birthday. Looking for the same result on 03/01/2016 47 years and 1 day later ! Anyone with any other old pics !

  5. I hope you are right Hoodlum since Mikey will be a much bigger loss than Stevie. Celtic are the only Scottish team who could afford him and if they do come calling they should be reminded that they paid £1.5 million for Shifty! I would be looking for £2 to £2.5 million similar to what they paid for Armstrong. We should play similar hardball with English interest, he is after all under contract until 2017. If we scare interest off until the Summer so what? We are still in both cups and looking at 4th or higher in the league. Summer offers are likely to be in the same ballpark as any we might reject in January. The last thing we should do is take any offer and run.

  6. It's raining and has been since this afternoon. The last few days have been pretty dry though with patches of rain here and there. They installed new drainage not that long ago so should be okay.

  7. I've known Les for more or less my whole time following Saints. I played in the sane WOMSAC team in the mid 80s. He was a mad Chels fan but his passion was always saints. Over the last couple of years he's been in an almost ambassador role for saints travelling to Eskisehir. He has built a bigger bond between the two clubs which can be seen by the reaction on Facebook to his passing today. I travelled back from Luzern on the train with him and he would always have a blether whenever we met in and about the Perth pubs or on an away day. He also had Starlitz the boozer before it turned into a tea room for the church on Princes Street. A real gent, die hard saints fan that will be truly missed. RIP Les xx

  8. A manager who saw the same thing as you? Really? Even though Tommy said we didn't get the ball to him often enough - which in your eyes is rubbish. You've got some opinion of yourself.

  9. Partick Thistle: Alan Archibald is manager of the monthPartick Thistle's Alan Archibald was thrilled to be named Premiership manager of the month for November. But the 37-year-old Jags boss thinks St Johnstone's Tommy Wright should have picked up the award instead. Thistle took seven points from nine last month, scoring eight goals. "I was delighted with the award but a wee bit embarrassed to be honest," said Archibald. "I thought Tommy Wright would have got it as St Johnstone have been on a fantastic run." Even the recipient agrees! From BBC Sport!!

  12. Incredible to think that our wee club is 130 years old, and hard to imagine those regulars who watched in the 1910s, 1920s and so on..... so much history, so many people whose team was St Johnstone. We really are just the custodians for now..... great pic. 13. Met Les (due to me working away from Perth for 30 yrs.) for the first time on our Euro ventures and found him to be a diehard Saintee and a sound bloke. A quiet unassuming nice man who chose his words wisely. Only a few weeks ago we were pulling his leg in the Muirton suite about returning the suit he was wearing to the Red Cross shop on the Monday. Very sad. RIP Les.

  15. I remember that too, when we were losing always thought it was a bad sign when some of them started up and left before the final whistle.

No truth in the rumour that it was Ashley's advertising notice that fell from the roof. There are other means available for Ashley to tear Strips off them.

    Stevie May

Hes played 404 minutes. Effectively four and a half matches. And has one assist. In terms of "minutes per contribution (goal/assist)" hes the second best performing striker at Preston just now....

    Tommy Wright

What does Tommy have to do??? Congrats to Mikey on player of month but once again Tommy overlooked, this time for Alan Archibald of Thistle for a loss a draw and two wins. Tommy has 3 wins and draw and didn't get a look in again!!! Just keep plugging away as you are Tommy, at least we can see you are the best in SPFL.

    Mickey Mouse Cup!

Staging this final at Pittodrie would be grossly unfair to The The since Aberdeen is only 30 miles from Peterhead. PS I vote that the final be staged at Pittodrie!
