How long have we been criticising the quality of our corner taking? Same issues as most games though, not a natural striker in the squad.i agree with the point about not having a real striker up front...this would make a huge difference to this group of players . We played very well back to middle but yet again our lack of cutting edge up front killed any chance of 3 points. We do seem to lack the belief when it comes to shooting. Quite a few times we tried to pass it once to often..That said, it took two brilliant saves from Mannus to earn us the point. Not the worst game I have ever seen. Caley imo never went full tilt to get a victory and were quite content to play for a draw . Saints were the better team on the night but alas, never got the killer touch. More disappointed that the senior member of staff didn't do something about it rather than waiting for another customer to challenge the pathetic behaviour. Cleveland-Saint Posted April 6, 2013 Report Share Posted April 6, 2013 Thought that was a great game, 80" screen in the pub with full blast speakers made it sound like Brazil in the world cup with the drum and singing, nice effort lads! Millar was fukin outstanding, Manus reliable as always, and thought a good battle between two decent coaches with good squads. The fitness level of saints looks tremendous right now and seem to look the stronger side in the last 1/4 of games. We made good chances, as did caley, I like what i see all round, stage set for the final games and push, just need to fix the up front combinations of players. We know we lack a natural scorer, but we have to make what we have work. I don't think Tade should start, last two games he just doesn't seem to have that edge......I thought Vine played better on the left, linking well with McLean tonight ~~~ there's my 2 cents for the night. Some of the passing play from saints was the best i have ever seen from them. Mclean is a great link up man but thats where it broke down. Unfortunately, the best unplanned shot chances fell to Millar which is not his strongest point. Abeid was fantastic at pushing forward and on another day would have scored. Weak point was def the two front men though Tade did put in plenty effort. Overall a very good performance and praise to Lomas for his tactics. ICT deserve praise as well for keeping it to 0-0, they are a no bad team. In fact, though having fewer chances, they were more clear cut. Abeid looked head and shoulders above the rest for a good 60 minutes but needed someone of his quality a bit higher up the park. Millar was superb again and Manus did his job superbly. Thought we controlled large parts of the game and it would have been a travesty if they'd scored at the end. Great singing from the away end and put their fans to shame!
