Wright Reported - Lustig 'elbow'

Good on Steve Lomas, saw this in the Metro and stole this from the Saints1884 facebook -

"Manager Steve Lomas has hit out at the process that sees defender Frazer Wright having to head to Hampden Park today to defend himself against an SFA charge.

Wright has been offered a two-game ban by the SFA for an alleged elbow on Celtic defender Mikael Lustig but will contest the charge in Glasgow today.

Lomas hasn't held back in his comments about the system: "Football is a contact sport and sometimes these collisions happen by accident. For me it shows up the whole system because the referee and his assistants saw nothing wrong.

"What has happened is that an editor in the BBC decided that’s the incident they’re going to highlight this week and that’s that.

"Other managers have had a problem with this.

"The system seems to centre around whatever appears on Sportscene. So who is making these decisions? Is it the editor of Sportscene?

"You only seem to get done if they highlight it."

If Wright fails to overturn the charge, he will miss Sunday's game with Motherwell and the first game of next season, whether he is still a St Johnstone player or not."

I couldn't really see anything til that third shot of it. Wright shouldn't have had his arm/elbow out at a right angle like that when jumping sideways. There was probably no real intent and certainly no malice, but it may go against him.

You're right about Lustig in the closing shots rubbing his head on the wrong side.

Wright hit his left, and he was left rubbing his right.

There is a video of it here - http://sport.stv.tv/football/clubs/st-johnstone/225331-frazer-wright-offered-two-match-ban-for-alleged-elbow-on-mikael-lustig/

The only one that looks bad is the third shot of it. Lustig appears to be rubbing the wrong side of his head in the video!

Trial by sportscene wins, who does Rob McLean support by the way?

Going by his face when Sevco get beat! I'd say them. Is it not a prime requirement to get a job on Sportscene, that you have to be an old firm fan!? Is that why Stuart Cosgrove didn't last long on the tea time show?! R McL will say he's an ICT fan in the same way Chick Young says he's a St Mirren Fan oh and Jim Traynor says he's an Airdrie fan!

this opens a can of worms

Think you underestimate just how little Saints are actually thought of in the league.....seems any amount of injustice can be meted out & we are just expected to accept it.....ffs our manager spent a quarter of the season in the stand ...a perfect example of the punishment not fitting the crime. Sad thing is it will only be a matter of time and Lomas will get hacked off and head off down south, where on the whole football seems a bit fairer! Certainly won't have to put up with the bigots who have such a say in Scottish football...

Rob McLean claims to support his home team: Ross County.

This could work in our favour ..it is an unfair ban but might be the wee bit extra motivation we need....sense of injustice and the wee diddy team syndrome strikes again ....coys lets do it for wrighty.

I agree with AthensSaint.... Just have to be even more determined to win on Sunday.... Only way to put 2 fingers up to the SFA.....
